One of the hardest things to accept is realizing that not everyone will change, no matter how much you love them.
Sometimes you spend years explaining how you feel, giving second chances, being patient, and hoping things will eventually get better.
You convince yourself that if you just love them a little more, understand them a little more, or hold on a little longer, they'll finally become the person you've been waiting for.
But real change has to come from within.
You can't make someone grow if they don't want to grow.
You can't fix problems that they don't believe exist.
And you can't carry the weight of someone else's choices forever.
There comes a point where protecting your own peace is no longer selfish—it's necessary.
You can still care about someone.
You can still wish them the best.
You can still hope life teaches them what you couldn't.
But you don't have to keep sacrificing yourself in the process.
Not everyone who enters your life is meant to stay. Some people leave behind lessons you'll carry for years. Some help you discover your strength. And sometimes, certain people are no longer part of your story because keeping them there would cost you too much of yourself.
If a door keeps closing, stop exhausting yourself trying to force it open.
Trust that some endings are not punishments.
Sometimes they're protection.
