Patuloy na lalaya, titindig para sa bansa ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

naghihintay sumibol,
ipagaspas ang mga pakpak na makulay,
ngunit nananatiling nakakulong sa balangkas ng pangamba
napako ang mga paa sa panghuhusga.

Ngunit sa pagitan ng dilim at liwanag,
sa katahimikan ng gabi,
naririnig ko ang sarili kong tinig
paos man sa takot,

Ngunit ngayon, unti-unti kong nauunawaan:

Hindi kasalanan ang umibig,
hindi kasalanan ang maging totoo sa sarili
Ang pusoโ€™y hindi tali ng kasarian,
kundi ilaw ng pagkatao.

At sa dulo ng lahat ng tanong,
isang sagot ang aking niyayakap:
Akoโ€™y likha rin ng Maylikha โ€”
buo, mahalaga, at karapat-dapat.

๐—ฃ๐—œ๐—ง๐—œ๐—ž ๐—ฆ๐—” ๐—”๐—š๐—ฅ๐—œ ๐—œ Wings just like a butterfly

I wish I had wings like a butterfly
To flutter freely in the whispering wind,
Unbound by fear, untethered by time.

I wish I had wings like a butterfly
Though now I crawl in silence and doubt,
A dream half-formed, a hope reaching out.

I wish I had wings like a butterfly
And though I cannot soar just yet,
Each phase will paint me in hues of becoming,
Until I rise, radiant and free

The Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) โ€“ College of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Sta. Rita Agriculture Cooperative and the Office of Extension Services (OES), launched the first day of its two-day extension seminar for coconut farmers in Padre Burgos, Quezon, May 30.

With the theme โ€œE-Niyoggosyo: Enhancing Coconut Farmers' Livelihood through Integrated Organic Coconut Farming System โ€“ Composting Technical Demonstration,โ€ the seminar aims to equip local farmers with sustainable and organic agricultural practices.

Led by Engr. Dave Gulifardo and Mr. Karl Niรฑo Sisperez, the training featured hands-on demonstrations on composting techniques and organic farming methods tailored specifically for coconut production.

The initiative is part of the universityโ€™s ongoing commitment to support community-based agricultural development through extension and outreach programs.

The second part of the seminar is scheduled for June 13.

IN PHOTOS I SLSU Forestry Day returns to College of Agriculture after its postponement last year

In celebration of the 12th Forestry Day, students of BS Forestry (BSFO), from first to fourth year, gathered for camaraderie and an engaging learning experience at the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) College of Agriculture in Lucban, Quezon, on May 22, 2025.

This event featured a team-based competition, where participants were randomly grouped to take various quizzes related to forestry courses.

The event was organized by the Mother Earth Ecosystem Society (MEES), an accredited student organization of SLSU, managed by resident BSFO members. Additionally, the 12th Forestry Day was led by the organization's Vice President, Elmer Naynes of BSFO-III. According to him, the event was nearly canceled due to delays in paperwork processing but was ultimately approved by the VPAA on the afternoon before its scheduled date.

Meanwhile, the team of Luisa Pabrea (BSFO-IIB), Jon Prima (BSFO-IV), Emmanuel Padrigone (BSFO-IIA), Iress Tamayo (BSFO-IA), and Geza Honrubia (BSFO-IB) emerged as champions of the 12th season of Forestry Day, securing victory in the โ€œLeaf Identificationโ€ and โ€œTwo Truths and a Lieโ€ competitions.

The SLSU Forestry Day is held annually at the college every May, integrating forestry courses into the competition. However, the 2024 edition had been postponed due to the limited timeframe available for the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) to organize student activities.

Viva San Isidro Labrador

During this day, the 15th of May, one significant event is tradionally held at Lucban, Quezon: the Pahiyas Festival. It is mainly for oblation of honor to San Isidro Labrador-the Patron Saint of Farmers as a way to give thanks for a bountiful harvest.

It beautifully blends indigenous traditions with Catholic beliefs, showcasing the town's rich agricultural heritage and artistic creativity.

A glimpse at its history showcased that the practice of thanksgiving is believed to predate the arrival of the Spanish in the Philippines. Farmers would traditionally offer a portion of their harvest to the anitos as a form of gratitude and to ensure future prosperity.

Your vote is everyone's future so choose wisely ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ

Voting is one of the most important and powerful rights that we have as a citizen of this country. It gives you the power to create positive change for the community and play a key role in choosing who represents us, and where government funding and resources will go.

This Day, May 12 will be one of the biggest days for us Filipinos because it is Election Day. This is the time when citizens exercise their right and duty to vote for leaders who will shape the country's future. The decisions made on this day will affect not just individual lives, but also families, communities, and generations to come.

The more we vote, the more powerful our voices become, and the more likely the issues that are important to us will be heard.

In line with this, voting should be done objectively, with the nationโ€™s future in mind. We must choose leaders based on their integrity, real passion, qualifications, and genuine plans for the Philippines, and not because of personal gain or empty promises. Let us not be blinded by money, gifts, or temporary favors, as these only weaken our democracy and harm our future. A vote bought is a voice lost. Vote wisely not just for yourself, but for your family and the generations to come.

We hope that whoever encountered this post should read carefully and heartfully. Ending this gentle reminder by this inspiring quote from Mr. John Lewis, " The vote is precious. It is almost sacred and the most powerful nonviolent tool we have in a democracy".
