Project STAND to Raise Awareness Against Bullying

Lucena City National High School (LCNHS) launched Project Speak Truth, Act Now, Defend (STAND) to raise awareness and promote action against bullying.

Mrs. Shane S. Leynes, Registered Guidance Counselor of Junior High School (JHS), spearheaded Project STAND, to implement across 59 classes in JHS, July 11.

"This project was conceived due to the high percentage of incidents reported especially in the JHS", Mrs. Leynes stated.

Project STAND aims to promote awareness to students to prevent bullying, as every Class President in JHS classes will serve as their buddyβ€”someone whom students can report to or ask for help if there is an incident of bullying.

She added, "We aim to cut down the number of bullying incidents until we reach the target to 0% bullying."

Additionally, Child Rights Desk introduced to students initiated by Student Supreme Learner Government (SSLG) under the direct supervision of Guidance Counselors, which aims to promote mental and emotional well-being of every student.

Region IV-A SDO Lucena Teachers gear up for Strengthened Grade 11 Curriculum Rollout

Teachers from Region IV-A (CALABARZON) – Schools Division Office (SDO) Lucena took an active role in the rollout of the Strengthened Senior High School (SHS) Curriculum for an intensive training session designed to prepare them for the focused implementation of the restructured Grade 11 program in School Year 2025–2026.

Department of Education’s National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) organized the training in partnership with the Bureau of Curriculum Development and the Bureau of Learning Delivery held in Metro Manila in two batches: May 25–31, 2025 for Tech-Vocational and Livelihood (TechPro) subjects, and May 28–June 1, 2025, for Core Subjects.

Educators from various regions brought together through face-to-face sessions which provided updates on the revised curriculum’s content standards, teaching strategies, and assessment frameworks, equipping participants with the tools needed to effectively deliver lessons under the strengthened Grade 11 curriculum.

Lucena’s Delegation assigned selected teachers for both the Academic and TechPro tracks from Lucena City National High School: Core Subjects; Alexandra Nicole M. Pedernal – Effective Communication, Kettle Empamano – Mabisang Komunikasyon, Daisy N. Manalo – General Mathematics, Wichee Jayziel H. Demin – General Science, Michelle B. Urlanda – Life and Career Skills, Sarah May D. Jabola – Pag-aaral ng Lipunan at Kasaysayang Pilipino, TechPro Track; Rovan Russel C. Canzana – Events Management Services, Julie Rose C. Tadena – Food Processing, Franz Cedric A. Gliane – Manual Metal Arc Welding, Hibirson E. Lagrosa – Electrical Installation and Maintenance, and Joven A. Ibasco – Food and Beverage Operation.

Participants engaged in workshops focused on quarter-by-quarter curriculum content, effective instructional approaches, and standards-based assessment methods tailored for Grade 11- SHS students.

Furthermore, as Grade 11 became the initial rollout level for this school year, teacher-participants expected to cascade their training learnings in their respective schools and divisions, which expected to show innovative, relevant, and learner-centered practices aligned with DepEd’s push for quality education.

Division’s representatives set to lead the transition to a future-ready SHS curriculumβ€”one that builds strong foundational competencies, fosters contextualized learning, and equips students with practical skills for real-world application.
