Student Affairs Services Leads HIV Awareness Seminar at Betelgeuse Open Area

Student Affairs Services (SAS) held its HIV/AIDS Awareness Seminar on December 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Betelgeuse Open Area with the theme “Knowledge Is Power: Prevent, Protect and Promote Awareness on HIV/AIDS.”

Jerrylyn Malavega and Felipha Ayala, the masters of ceremony, opened the program with announcements. The MCs updated participants on ongoing enrollment and clearance signing, then energized the audience with a short CO intermission.

Ms. Alliyah Nicole Septimo, an education student, led the national anthem after the opening prayer. Mr. Jayvee Berenguer, a criminology student, delivered the opening remarks on behalf of Sir Alexander E. Medina, SAS Chief Officer. Joyce Ann Palillo, SAS assistant, introduced the esteemed guest speaker Frederick V. Salonga, RN.

Frederick V. Salonga, explained the origins of HIV, its five transmission fluids, available treatments, and the rising number of cases—148,231 nationwide and 1,636 in Quezon, with Lucena topping the province’s list of affected municipalities.

SAS awarded a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Frederick V. Salonga, Rn. Ma’am Joanne O. Medina, Vice President of Administrative Services, gave an inspiring closing remarks. The program concluded with the ACES hymn and a photo opportunity.

CRIMINOLOGY WEEK - Day 2 Highlight

The morning session event started with activities like Air Soft, Battle of the Brains, and Poster Making Contest. Criminology students created each booth, and the event highlighted them. Organizers ended the poster making contest by showing the works of each participant to appreciate their creativity. Organizers concluded the battle of the brains by announcing the winners from 3rd place to 1st place. On the other hand, many participants tried the Air Soft activity, and organizers chose three winners.

In the afternoon, the event started with a Crime Scene Investigation activity. Ms. Nicole Degula, a third-year Criminology student, served as the master of ceremonies and gave the rubrics and rules of the competition. The master of ceremonies also introduced the board of judges. Ten sections participated, and they came from 2nd Year and 3rd Year. The five sections that performed from the second year were Mandarangan, Laon-Alab, Sanlingan, Bagwis, and Banyuhay. The other five sections that came from third year were Maragtas, Mandala, Sambisig, Tanglaw Diwa, and Makabayan. Criminology students ended the event by signing the registration.

CRIMINOLOGY WEEK - Day 2 Highlight

The morning session event started with activities like Air Soft, Battle of the Brains, and Poster Making Contest. Criminology students created each booth, and the event highlighted them. Criminology Week – Day 1 Highlight

The first day of Criminology Week began with a vibrant morning program led by Ms. Nicole Degula, the Master of Ceremony from Third Year Criminology. The event started by featuring the entrance of colors, following with prayer and singing of the national anthem.
Ms. Joanne O. Medina, the Vice President of Administrative Services, enthusiastically delivered the welcome remarks. This was followed by Ms. Nicole Degula introducing the judges.

As the tone was set, the lively performances from first year criminology with their Basic Drill Exhibition followed. Everyone was in awe with the performance showed by the sections Hinirang, Matatag, Sandigan, Masigasig, Magiting and Masinag that came from First Year Criminology students.

The Second Year Criminology students did not back down as they showed a great performance of Riffle Exhibition. The Second Year Criminology students that performed were from the sections Mandarangan, Laon-Alab, Sanlingan, Bagwis and Banyuhay. Lastly, the Third Year Criminology students showcased their unity and talent as they performed a Sword Exhibition.

This highlights that Criminology students perseverance and hard work as they made the judges experience a remarkable show.

In the afternoon session, a teacher from ACES, Ms. Diana T. Rosas introduced the guest speakers, including Nolie “Tatay CHAPS” Ingcad, RCrim, John Michael S. Pontiveros, RCrim and John McLaine E. Tulao, RCrim who shared valuable insights on the Republic Act 11131 and professional ethics in criminology education.They also highlighted the CHAPS interview center and explained its role to their success. The event concluded with the awarding of certificates given by Ms. Diana T. Rosas and Mr. John Edcel Tamayo. The closing remarks were also delivered by Mr. John Edcel Tamayo. The event ended with a heartfelt singing of the ACES Hymn which marks a meaningful start to Criminology Week.

Nurses' Week 2025 – Day 3 Highlights

The ACES College of Nursing conducted Day 3 of its Nurses' Week 2025 celebration in Room 202, where profound learning, inspiration, and camaraderie filled the space. Students from the Criminology, Education, and Caregiving NCII departments joined the event.

Diligent ACES scholars managed the registration of participants to begin the session. Ms. Jelian Basalo then led the opening prayer to formally start the program, followed by the National Anthem. Ms. Joyce Ann I. Palillo, Student Affairs Assistant, gave warm welcome remarks and officially opened the event.

The session's hosts, Faith Stephanie Joy Banaag and Cristine Mendoza, welcomed the guest speaker, Ms. Julia Mae C. Asia, ACES Guidance Associate. The guest speaker spearheaded an eye-opening mental health seminar that highlighted the basic and simple concepts of mental health itself, self-awareness, and emotional well-being.

To make the activity more vibrant, Merielle B. Salva, a Sinagtala member, led an intermission number and sang to energize the audience. Then, Ms. Faith Matthew Ollano, whose voice was so calming, added warmth to the ambience.

Lance Santy Macaraan later presented the booths with creativity and inter-department collaboration.

Dean Kenneth P. Veluya delivered a heartfelt closing message to end the program, followed by the proud singing of the ACES Hymn—a symbol of unity and pride.

Indeed, Day 3 of Nurses' Week 2025 succeeded as a day of education, bonding, and fun.

Nurses Week 2025: Day Two – Action, Energy, and Team Spirit

Day two of Nurses Week 2025, held on October 28 at Ilayang Dupay National High School, brought the nursing students together as they showcased their hidden talents in sports and leadership.

The event began with an energizing Zumba session, setting the pace for the day. The volleyball match thrilled the crowd as Group 1A and Group 2A battled through powerful serves and spikes, but Group 2 persisted and claimed a well-deserved victory.

The excitement continued on the basketball court, where BSN 1-A built a strong defense to protect their lead. BSN 1-B slammed their way through with determination, but BSN 1-A stayed one step ahead, sealing the win with a close 20–18 finish.

The afternoon featured a Yell Competition that filled the hall with energy, followed by team-building games such as the Sack Race, Balloon Caterpillar, and other exciting activities, where each group showcased their teamwork and spirit. Group 2B dominated with 11 points, while Group 1B made a strong comeback in the final rounds, overthrowing Group 3B with a close score of 10–8 to take second place.

The day ended with smiles, laughter, and a strong sense of camaraderie, proving that teamwork and sportsmanship are at the heart of every nursing student.

NURSING LIGHT UP THE SKY: ILLUMINATING MENTAL HEALTH AND UNITY✨

During the Day 1 of Nursing week on October 27, 2025 held in ACES, Room 202. The morning event focuses at Inspiring and tearful advices for the future nurses. Featuring Ma'am Maane Cruz as the guest speaker. Cathlene Catapang and Angela Faith Amano as the master of the ceremony.

The program has started with a prayer and the singing of national anthem. Ma'am Joanne O. Medina, the Vice-president of Administrative Service, shared a heart warming opening remarks. Led by Dean of College of Nursing Dr. Kenneth P. Veluya RN, PhD and Ma'am Maane Cruz RN., the guest speaker.

In the afternoon event, the College of Nursing went to Ilayang Dupay with other professionals to assist the students for the Reach out Program.

This program emphasize not just to give but also share the moments with kindness, laughter and how caring can start with helping.

Drug Awareness and Crime Prevention

The "Drug Awareness and Crime Prevention" program was held on October 8, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Betelgeuse Open Area. The event focused on law enforcement strategies to combat drug abuse and crime, featuring Police Staff Sergeant Ana M Paral as the guest speaker and Criminology Officer Princess M. Montevirgen as the master of ceremonies.

The program began with the entrance of colors, followed by a prayer and the singing of the national anthem, "Lupang Hinirang." Princess M. Montevirgen delivered the opening remarks, setting the tone for the important discussions ahead.

PSSG Ana M Paral addressed several critical issues, starting with the high rates of HIV and teenage pregnancy in Lucena. She then explained the difference between legal and illegal drugs and described common illegal drugs like ecstasy, including their effects and how they are used.

PSSG Paral highlighted the symptoms of drug addiction and explored the reasons behind drug selling and usage, such as peer pressure and family problems. Attendees also watched an educational video about drugs.

The guest speaker discussed the penalties for violating drug laws, including fines and imprisonment. She emphasized that police in Lucena carry out five drug operations each week and explained the different legal procedures applied to minors versus adults involved in drug cases.

The program ended with a certificate-awarding ceremony honoring PSSG Ana M Paral. The Criminology Battalion Commander Jerrylyn Malavega and SAS Assistant Joyce Ann Palillo were the one who gave the certificate. After that, Ms. Jerrylyn Malavega delivered the closing remarks. At the end of the program, the students sang the "Aces Hymn" and then the Criminology Offircers did the exit of colors.
