What makes them stand out? They’re not just gamers — they are Bachelor of Science in Information Technology students from The College of Maasin. Proving that Maasinhons can dominate both in academics and in the Land of Dawn!

𝐁𝐒𝐈𝐓 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞: 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠

From codes to cuts, Clarence Clide Cabero, a 4th year IT student from The College of Maasin, proved that IT skills can shine beyond the digital world. As the Video Editor of TCM’s winning team, he helped secure 1st Place in the recently concluded Linggo ng Kabataan Inter-School Short Film Contest 2025.

The victory was a collaborative effort led by Director Wendelson Lacanilao (THP Editor-in-Chief), Cinematographer Lyra Dette Gayo (THP Multimedia Director), Scriptwriter Cyrha Jane Cero (TCM Multimedia Office), and guided by Coach Mr. Mark James Gamayot (TCM Multimedia Office Adviser).

Cabero’s achievement is proof that IT students are not only innovators in technology, but also creative storytellers capable of producing work that inspires and makes an impact.

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | TCM Filmmakers Secure Back-to-Back Victory in Linggo ng Kabataan Short Film Contest

The College of Maasin (TCM) Filmmakers once again claimed the championship title for the second consecutive year in the Linggo ng Kabataan Intercollegiate On the Spot–Short Film Making competition held at the City Mayor's Conference Hall on August 14, 2025.

This year’s winning entry tackled the timely issue of mental health, crafted under intense time pressure.

The four-member team featured Wendelson Lacanilao, The Hilltop Publication (THP) Editor-in-Chief, as director; Lyra Dette Gayo, THP Multimedia Director, as cinematographer; Clarence Clide Cabero, THP Multimedia Director, as video editor; and Cyrha Jane Cero from the TCM Multimedia Office, as scriptwriter.

They were coached by Mr. Mark James Gamayot, Multimedia Office adviser.

The victory follows the 2024 championship, where the previous team lead by Cabero produced a short film addressing teenage pregnancy.

Religious Convocation : God’s Image in Humankind & Creation

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) hosted the first collegiate Religious Convocation held at the MI-TCM Alumni Gymnasium on August 6, 2025, at 4:00 PM. The event embraced the theme, “Heralding the Work of Proclaiming God’s Image in Humankind and His Creation.”

The program opened with a heartfelt liturgy led by Harold Rey Pia, creating a reflective and reverent atmosphere. The opening prayer led by Janelle Bacus expressed deep gratitude for God’s presence and emphasized the importance of taking time to reflect on His Word. It encouraged everyone to strengthen their faith and recognize God’s image within people and the world around them.

An inspiring keynote message was delivered by the guest speaker, Redeemseth Gloria, who centered his message on the theme “New Heaven, New Earth” a future reality where righteousness reigns. It emphasizes that, according to God's promise, Christians are anticipating a transformed creation where God's perfect justice and holiness will be fully realized.

To honor the speaker, a token and certificate of appreciation were presented by John Andre Salubre – BSIT President, alongside Mrs. Lourdes E. Siaton – BSIT Program Head. The program also featured a touching offertory song by Keth Dalugdugan, which added to the spirit of gratitude and worship that filled the occasion.

The convocation concluded with a moving closing prayer and benediction led by the school chaplain, Bishop Dulce Pia Rose, who reminded the community of their calling to reflect God’s image through service, compassion, and love.

𝐁𝐒𝐈𝐓 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: 𝐀 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐊𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐨𝐟𝐟!

Earlier this morning at the MI-CM Alumni Gym, the BSIT Department held its much-anticipated General Assembly. The event was graced by our Program Head Mrs. Lourdes Siaton, who delivered an inspiring welcome message highlighting the department’s continuous growth and achievements.

Joining her were Mrs. Roselle Aves, one of our dedicated instructors, and Mr. Froilan Cris Lao, Head of ISAO.

The program continued with an informative segment led by our Department President, Mr. John Andre Salubre, who walked us through essential updates, department policies, and reminders. An open forum followed, where students eagerly raised questions and voiced their suggestions — all thoughtfully addressed.

Important announcements were also shared by our Program Head, culminating with closing remarks from our Vice President, Ms. Jhane Padecio.

To cap off the event, the Club Recruitment kicked off — a moment of excitement and exploration as students selected organizations that reflect their interests and passions.

With unity, purpose, and shared vision, the BSIT Department is ready to take on another remarkable year!
