A powerful magnitude-7.8 tectonic earthquake struck Maasim, Sarangani on Monday morning, triggering widespread tsunami warnings with its impact felt across several parts of Mindanao.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) initially reported the quake at magnitude-7.0 but later revised its findings, similar to the reading of the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
