โEvery athlete has a beginning, but for Einsley, table tennis was not just a sport; it was an inherited passion.
โ"Before ko ning duwa gajud ug ping pong, basketball gajud ag ganahan ipaduwa sa ako tatay".
โ
โHowever, life and a push from his older sister steered him toward the table. By the third grade, what started as a suggestion became a lifelong commitment.
โ
โHis journey was forged in discipline. Reflecting on his early years, he describes the training under his father as "impyerno" (hellish), characterized by rigid assignments and the relentless pursuit of mastery. "Dili gajud ko kamao mo igo ug bola," he recalls of his early struggles. Yet, it was this demanding start that cultivated the resilience he carries today.
โ
โBalancing the demands of being an engineering student, where even minor subjects feel like major hurdles, with the intensity of regional athletic training is no small feat. During his third year, the academic pressure intensified, turning his daily life into a tightrope walk.
โ
โ"Regardless sa kalisod, nakit-an gihapon ug paagi na ma balance nako ag pagtuon ug pag practice".
โ
โHis philosophy for navigating burnout is simple yet profound: "If na-stress mo sa mga dapat etuon, relax kadali unya duwa ping pong. If sobraan na pod ka stress sa ping pong, pahuway and tuon."
โ
โIt is this wisdom.
โKnowing when to push and when to pause.
โThis allowed him to excel where many would have faltered.
โ
โHis internal dialogue was clear:
"๐ฐ๐'๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐'๐ ๐
๐ ๐๐ ๐
๐๐."
โThis mantra fueled his run to the bronze medal, a moment that stands as a tribute to his coaches, his teammates, and his father.
โ
โWhen asked what he would say to his freshman self, the advice is tender and grounded: "Eh dawat na lamn ag mga panahon na lisod. Naa mn gajud panahon kita nga nindot ag adlaw, naa pod panahon nga kita ag way nindot na adlaw."
โA reminder that the highs and lows are both essential parts of the athleteโs evolution.
โ
โEinsley doesn't want to be remembered just for the medals or the tactical maneuvers on the court. His goal is to leave a legacy of supportโto be the player who stood by his team until the very end. "Ang gitudlo sa ping pong nako kay mag antus gajud," he reflects.
โ
โ"๐ต๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐."
โ
โWhile his future in competitive play remains a question of time and opportunity, his mindset remains fixed on growth.
"Feel pa nako na wala pa nako na reach ako full potential".
Whether he competes in the next SCUAA, or takes his journey in a new direction, his parting words to the younger generation serve as a guide for success.
"๐บ๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐
, ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐
๐ ๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐
."

โFor Einsley Brent Lhure Agapay, the game of table tennis has been the mirror through which he discovered his own strength. He leaves the court not just as a competitor, but as a leader who understands that the true measure of an athlete is found in the heart they bring to the table every single day.
