Maasin City—Under the warm June air, the Southern Leyte State University Maasin Campus (SLSU-MCC) celebrated a significant milestone in its 23rd Commencement Exercises held at the Maasin City Gym on June 2, 2025. It was a day marked by honor, reflection, and a sense of transformation as the graduates stepped into a new chapter of their lives.

𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈: 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗟𝗦𝗨-𝗠𝗖𝗖

On May 23, 2025, graduating students from the Bachelor of Public Administration and the Bachelor of Science in Social Work gathered at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR) of SLSU-MCC for a day-long recollection activity. The event, organized to help students reflect on their academic journey and prepare emotionally and spiritually for life after graduation, was spearheaded by Mr. Joseph B. Nantes, Interfaith Adviser, and Ma'am Aster Lynn Reoma, Head of the Student Affairs and Services (SAS). The program ran from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and featured a series of reflective and interactive activities facilitated by guest speakers Mr. Rovith B. Caliente and Mr. Arniel P. Viscara. These sessions were designed to inspire students to draw courage and wisdom from their past experiences as they move forward into a new chapter of their lives.

𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈: 𝗦𝗟𝗦𝗨-𝗠𝗖𝗖 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗣-𝗖𝗪𝗧𝗦 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱

On May 21, 2025, Southern Leyte State University – Maasin City Campus proudly held its National Service Training Program (NSTP) Graduation Ceremony at the Audio Visual Room, SLSU-MCC. Seventy-three promising first-year students from the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) and Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) programs celebrated the successful completion of their NSTP journey. With the theme “Henerasyon ng Pagkakaisa, Kaagapay ng Bagong Pilipinas,” the event highlighted the students’ commitment to unity, service, and nation-building as they step forward as future leaders and partners of progress.

Graduating Mighty Kingfishers of Southern Leyte State University–Maasin City Campus (SLSU–MCC) are highly encouraged to contribute their gently used school and PE uniforms—items they no longer need but that could mean everything to a fellow student. Through kindness, resourcefulness, and solidarity, we can turn something as simple as a uniform into a beacon of hope and compassion.

Maasin City, Southern Leyte — The Social Work Department of Southern Leyte State University - Maasin City Campus held its much-anticipated Field Instruction (FI) Exit Conference on May 14, 2025, at the PE Hall, SLSU MCC, Tunga-Tunga, Maasin City, Southern Leyte. The event gathered 60 social work interns, faculty members, and representatives from partner agencies to mark the culmination of the Field Instruction 2 program.

𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: the right to vote in political elections.

May 12, 2025 marks the D-day for the mid term election. Pulse, the official student publication of Southern Leyte State University-Maasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC) encourages all Mighty Kingfishers to exercise their right to vote. Article 5, Section 1 of the Philippine Constitution (𝐒𝐔𝐅𝐅𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐄) states that all Filipino citizens who are 18 years old and above, and have lived in the Philippines for at least 1 year and in their voting area for 6 months, can vote. There's no requirement for education, property, or anything else to be able to vote.

You hold the power in changing and shaping a flourishing future for our country.

May 2, 2025 | CD Conference Room, Macrohon, Southern Leyte — A landmark collaboration between two grassroots initiatives—LEAD (Local Empowerment and Development) of the SK-BLGU Macrohon and CLEAR (Comprehensive Local Economic & Accountability Reporting) of BLGU Canturing—was officially launched through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony held today.

𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈: Colloquium of Speakers

SLSU-MCC held a language activity titled ‘Colloquium of Speakers’ at the SLSU- MCC, PE Hall last April 23 and 30, 2025. The primary objective of this event was to provide a platform for students to enhance their oral communication skills, cultivate confidence in public speaking, and effectively articulate their ideas. The activity featured the participation of first-year Social Work students in speech delivery and second-year Public Administration students in spoken delivery. The event culminated with instructors Jahara Napalla and Aster Lyn Reoma recognizing the most outstanding speakers and presenters.
