EVEN SPIDER-MAN CAN BREAK
In the new Spider-Noir series, Nicolas Cage plays Ben Reilly as an aged man past his prime, carrying deep pain and having a serious existential crisis.
Five years after his fiancƩe Ruby J. Williams was k!lled, Ben completely gave up being Spider-Man. Ruby was killed as revenge by a criminal he once put away. She was chained inside a car and drowned.
Ben was out drinking that night and arrived too late to save her. That moment became his Canon Event. The guilt destroyed him.
He turned into a heavy drinker working as a private investigator, haunted by nightmares and constant self-blame. Even a man with great power couldnāt protect the woman he loved most.
This resonates with us because it shows even the strongest men can quietly fall apart after losing someone they love. A lot of us carry that same pain, guilt, and emptiness but we just keep it all inside.
June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month. It's okay not to be okay. It's okay to feel lost, angry, or completely wrecked inside. Your pain is real. Your story matters. And you don't have to carry it alone.
If you're struggling right now, please reach out and talk to someone. Getting help is not weakness.
This is end of Day 3.
Every day this month I will keep sharing Marvel, DC, and pop culture moments that remind us we can overcome the demons in our heads.
We got this, Kings!
