Eva Psychee Patalinjug is a nursing student at Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU); a member of CDU’s student body; a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairperson of Brgy. But with her beauty other people, especially those who don’t know her well, might conclude that she considers herself as high and mighty.
“From afar I may look unapproachable, a snob but if you’ll approa
ch me you’ll say that your perception is wrong because I’m very friendly. I won’t bite,” she said in Cebuano. True to her words, she smiles at the people who pass our table during the interview. Palarong Pambansa 2008 in Palawan gave her fame as pictures of her spread through television, newspapers and the Internet. This opened the door to MAC, which is the leading modeling agency in Cebu.
“It’s an honor to be one of the MAC models. I am aiming to be a top model,” says Eva. In modeling, punctuality is one of the golden rules, especially when models have photo shoots or fashion shows. Professionalism is really important.
“It doesn’t mean that if you’re a model you’re only a pretty face; you should also have brains,” Eva said in Cebuano, meaning that modeling is also a serious career. Not only is she a beauty but she also excels in her studies. She was a valedictorian in high school and she’s vying for honors now that she is in college. Going to school is her priority today as she dreams of becoming a doctor, or a lawyer like her mom. She has a lot of commitments and practices time management to avoid problems in her work, and time with her family and friends. As an SK chairperson she looks after the welfare of the youth in her barangay, but it’s not all work. She is good in table tennis, and taekwondo, which is her specialty. She also plays the piano
She has achieved more than she has expected. “I am very lucky to have my family and friends supporting me,” she says. “We all have different talents because we are all unique. We should not lose hope and we should always continue chasing our dreams.
