ANG PAGBASA GIKAN SA EBANGHELYO SUMALA NI SAN MATEO (Mt. 5:43-48)

Si Jesus miingon sa iyang mga tinun-an, “Nakadungog kamo nga giingon kaniadto, ‘Higugmaa ang imong mga higala, ug dumti ang imong mga kaaway.’ Apan karon sultihan ko kamo: higugmaa ang inyong mga kaaway, ug pag-ampo kamo alang sa mga tawo nga nagpasipala kaninyo, aron mahimo kamong mga anak sa inyong Amahan nga atua sa langit. Kay siya, sa walay pagpili, nagpadan-ag sa iyang adlaw ug naghatag og ulan ngadto sa mga matarong ug sa mga makasasala. Nganong magpaabot man kamo nga mobalos kaninyo ang Dios, kon kamo nahigugma lamang sa mga tawo nga nahigugma kaninyo? Bisan gani ang mga kobrador sa buhis nagbuhat man niana! Kon kamo makighimamat lamang sa inyong mga higala, unsa may nahimo ninyo nga labaw pa sa kasagaran? Bisan gani ang mga tawo nga wala magtuo sa Dios nagbuhat man niana! Kinahanglan magmahingpit kamo ingon nga hingpit ang inyong Amahan nga atua sa langit.”

Peter began to say to Jesus,
'We have given up everything and followed you."
Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you,
there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters
or mother or father or children or lands
for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel
who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age:
houses and brothers and sisters
and mothers and children and lands,
with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.
But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first."
