NCMF-DAVAO TAKES ACTION ON VLOGGER DISRESPECTING ISLAMIC DOCTRINE

A show cause order for vligger Crist Briand was issued by the NCMF-Davao Regional Office under Regional Director Arch. Sherrila Porza-Sawah after his viral post allegedly mocking Islamic doctrine prohibiting pork consumption.

Mr. Briand was given 5 days to respond before further legal action will be taken against him for malicious intent against a minority group’s culture and beliefs.

Imaam Maalik رحمه الله, “Learn manners before knowledge,” carries a timeless wisdom.

It reminds us that knowledge without good character can become dangerous. A person may memorize books, master sciences, and even speak eloquently, but if they lack humility, respect, and sincerity, their knowledge becomes a source of arrogance rather than guidance.

Manners - like patience, humility, respect for teachers, gentleness with others, and sincerity towards Allah - are the foundation upon which knowledge should rest. Just as a tree cannot grow strong without deep roots, knowledge cannot bear fruit without adab (manners).

In Islam, manners are part of faith. The Prophet ﷺ said: “The best among you are those who have the best manners and character.” When a student of knowledge begins with adab, their learning becomes a light for themselves and others. Without it, knowledge may become a tool for showing off or belittling others.

🌿 Reflection:
Before rushing to fill our minds with information, we should purify our hearts and discipline our behavior. For true knowledge is not just about what we know, but how we live and how we reflect the mercy and wisdom of Islam in our actions.

Sa pananaw ng Islam, hindi mata ang tunay na batayan ng malinaw na pagtingin, kundi ang puso. Sabi nga sa Qur’an, may mga matang nakakakita ngunit bulag ang puso.

Kaya kung malinis at malawak ang puso ng isang tao, nakikita niya ang kabutihan at karunungan sa bawat sitwasyon. Pero kung sarado at marumi ang puso, kahit anong ganda ng nakikita ng mata, mananatiling hungkag.

Ang tunay na paningin ay galing sa puso na may Taqwa at Dhikr kay Allah. 🤲✨
