Glaucoma Warrior MY GLAUCOMA JOURNEY Raising awareness about the serious eye disease, the silent thief if sight

02/07/2025

Living with partial blindness and glaucoma is really tough, it's a lifetime medication, from diagnosis to surgery and ongoing follow-ups. Despite the challenges, I'm grateful for God's strength on this lifelong journey. Every day brings a new test, but with faith, I face it head-on.

"total blindness won't win, determined to overcome it"

Whenever I visit the hospital, I sing "In Jesus Name" by Hillsong, it's actually my prayer song. During my last visit in January, the doctor said my eye pressure wasn't good. This means the glaucoma is serious, it's progressing silently with a risk of a lifetime blindness. Another expensive procedure has to be done immediately, all medicines should always be complete, regular monitoring is needed.
Fear of going blind is really my burden, and I don't want also to become a burden to my loveones. I'm a fighter and God trusted me with this trial so whatever the case and whatever it takes, I’ll go to the ends of the earth 🌎 will keep on fighting because there is nothing my God cannot do. All things are possible, in Jesus Name.♥️🕊️😇🙏🏾

Two years ago, I decided to visit an ophthalmologist. I was puzzled because, within a year, I had changed glasses three times with the same prescription from optometrist, yet my vision remained blurry.

On May 20, 2023, a memorable date for me, the doctor diagnosed me a high eye pressure which had reached 25, and symptoms indicating possible glaucoma. He said that it was a hereditary disease.

I consulted 4 eye specialists across different hospitals, (UERM, Lourdes Hospital, Medical City & St. Lukes) and they all confirmed that I have glaucoma. December 23, 2023, my last eye checkup for that year, my doctor did'nt let me go home, insisting I needed immediate laser eye surgery to prevent further pressure increase. The 15 minutes laser procedure (iridotomy) per eye was succesful. Follow-up showed my pressure dropped to a safer range of 12-14 easing my concerns.

I'm still fighting against a condition that's progressive and irreversible, but I'm holding on to my faith. I believe God will guide me through this journey, providing all the strength and resources I need to overcome the challenges ahead. And I want to encourage everyone with the same condition like me to keep figthing and trust in the Lord always.
