Spotted this classic phone booth while exploring Sydney. ☎️🇦🇺

Once a key part of everyday life—especially for travellers and anyone on the move—these public phones were how people stayed connected before mobiles took over.

Today, many of Sydney’s remaining phone booths are maintained by Telstra and some have even been upgraded with modern features, but a few still stand as reminders of a very different time in communication.

What’s interesting is that they’re actually free to use in Australia for local and national calls, mobile numbers, and even emergency calls—making them a quiet but useful backup in today’s digital world. 📞

Passed through the Buda Castle Tunnel (Alagút)—a 19th-century engineering feat carved right under Castle Hill, quietly linking Clark Ádám Square and the Chain Bridge to the historic Buda Castle District. Opened in 1857, it was designed to ease movement through the steep hill instead of around it, becoming one of Budapest’s earliest modern infrastructure projects.

It may look like just a stone archway at the entrance, but it’s actually a passage beneath one of the city’s most famous landmarks.
