KADIWA ng Pangulo Program Launched at PNP CALABARZON to Support Local Farmers and Provide Convenience to Police Personnel

Calamba City, Laguna – In a significant initiative to bolster local agriculture and provide essential goods to law enforcement personnel, the Department of Agriculture IV-CALABARZON (DA-4A) officially launched the KADIWA ng Pangulo program at the Regional Philippine National Police (PNP) Camp Vicente Lim on June 30.

This program aims to create an alternative market for farmers while ensuring that police personnel have easy access to high-quality agricultural products. The launch featured the participation of 13 Farmers Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), showcasing a variety of essential goods including rice, meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, eggs, and dairy products.

“Through KADIWA, we are not only supporting our farmers by providing them a direct channel to sell their products but also offering our police officers a convenient way to purchase their daily necessities without the need to travel far,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Ehderg Casison. He emphasized the savings in both time and fuel for officers who can now buy all their cooking supplies on-site.

The participating organizations included the Majayjay Organic Farmers Association, Valentin Integrated Farm, JD Hernandez Tapa and Longganisa Store, Fisherfolk Association of Brgy. San Rafael 4, Urdaneta Farmers Association, and several others committed to promoting local produce and enhancing food security in the region.

KADIWA ng Pangulo exemplifies the collaborative efforts between the DA and PNP to elevate local agriculture while ensuring that essential goods are readily available to those who serve the community. This initiative not only fosters economic growth for local farmers but also strengthens the connection between the agricultural sector and the police force.

Revenue Authorities Launch "Run After Tax Evaders" (RATE) Program, Files Criminal Complaints Against Taxpayers

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has intensified its efforts to combat tax evasion through the implementation of the "Run After Tax Evaders" (RATE) Program. Over the course of June 16 and 17, 2025, revenue officers from RR 9A-CaBaMiRo and RD 59-Lipa City filed criminal complaints against three taxpayers at the Office of the City Prosecutor in Lipa City, Batangas.

The initiative aims to crack down on fraudulent tax practices and ensure that all taxpayers comply with national tax laws. The recent filings are part of a broader campaign to promote transparency and accountability among business entities and individuals.

According to reports, the complaints involve alleged willful tax evasion and failure to settle due taxes, which undermine government revenue and public trust. The revenue officers worked closely with local law enforcement and the Department of Finance to identify and prosecute repeat offenders.

"We are committed to fostering a fair and equitable tax environment," said a BIR spokesperson. "Tax evaders who attempt to cheat the system will face criminal charges and penalties. The RATE program underscores our dedication to enforcing tax laws effectively."

The BIR has urged taxpayers to voluntarily comply with tax regulations and settle any outstanding obligations. Failure to do so may result in criminal charges, fines, and possible imprisonment.

This recent development highlights the government's renewed focus on curbing tax evasion and strengthening revenue collection efforts to fund vital public services and infrastructure projects.

DTI Launches Campaign to Correct Wrong Ideas About Online Transactions**

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has started a campaign to explain the correct information about online shopping. The goal is to clear up false beliefs about online transactions, especially now that a new law called Republic Act No. 11967 or the Internet Transactions Act of 2023 is in effect.

According to DTI, many people have wrong ideas about online shopping. So, they made statements to explain what’s true.

Here are some common wrong ideas and the facts:

- Wrong idea: The government doesn’t regulate online transactions.
Fact: There is a government agency that helps and protects online buyers and sellers.

- Wrong idea: The law doesn’t cover international online sellers.
Fact: They are covered if they sell to the Philippines.

- Wrong idea: Only the platform is responsible.
Fact: Sellers and platforms both have responsibilities to ensure a proper transaction.

- Wrong idea: You can sell anything online.
Fact: The government can stop the sale of dangerous or illegal products.

- Wrong idea: Products on well-known platforms are automatically safe.
Fact: That’s not always true. Buyers should still be careful and check products.

DTI is reminding everyone to be responsible and cautious when shopping online. This helps prevent problems and keeps trust in online buying and selling.
