A new literary and cultural hub has arrived in Manila with the launch of Australia Corner, a dedicated space filled with books highlighting Australian literature, culture, and history. Spearheaded by Book Nook founder Architect Sheroen Sy and SM Supermalls President Steven Tan, the initiative aims to inspire a love for reading among Filipinos while fostering deeper cultural understanding.

With support from the Australian Embassy, the space offers a diverse collection of books—including donations from Australian-educated Filipinos and the Melbourne-based Give-A-Textbook Foundation. Ambassador HK Yu hopes this initiative will create lasting connections between Filipino and Australian communities.

🎓 EDUKASYON PARA SA LAHAT

Sa panayam ng DZRH noong Abril 3, 2025, ibinahagi ni Dr. Mildred Vitangcol ng H.E.L.P. Pilipinas Party-list ang totoong kalagayan ng edukasyon sa mga liblib na lugar: mga estudyanteng kailangang maglakad ng higit 30 kilometro, kakulangan sa classrooms, at kawalan ng access sa basic needs gaya ng malinis na tubig.

✅ May mga classrooms na siyang naipatayo.
✅ May mga water systems nang nailagay sa ilang komunidad.
Pero kulang pa.

💡 Ang solusyon? Suportang pambansa.

📌 Masalimuot ang kalagayan ng healthcare system, at sa interbyu na ito, nailahad ang ilang ugat ng kakulangan sa doktor sa bansa.

Bukod dito, isa pang dahilan ay ang kakulangan ng kapasidad ng maraming pamilya na mapag-aral ang kanilang mga anak sa medisina, nursing, o midwifery.
