| The CIDG Manila District Field Unit together with Intelligence Group NCR and Anti-Cybercrime Group–Eastern Police District in coordination with Eastern Police District implemented a Warrant to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data (WSSECD) for violation of Section 4 (Cybercrime Offenses) (b) (2), Computer-Related Fraud of Republic Act No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) in City Residence, Brgy. Bagong Silang, Mandaluyong City that resulted in the arrest of fourteen suspects, including a male Malaysian; and the confiscation of thirty two units of desktop computers and one laptop computer allegedly used for online fraud scheme.
Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico II, the Acting Director of CIDG, stated last September 24, fourteen arrested suspects were caught while allegedly engaged in computer-related frauds- “love scam”, and “cryptocurrency investment scam” under the supervision of “Joseph,” male, 40 years old, Malaysian, while the thirteen Filipinos are Team Leaders and spammers for the alleged syndicate, respectively.
The CIDG Director emphasized that the State adopts sufficient powers to effectively prevent and combat cybercrimes by facilitating their detection, investigation, and prosecution at both the domestic and international levels, and by providing arrangements for fast and reliable international cooperation. | via Vince Lopez
