Today, June 4, 2026, Malabon National High School successfully conducted its Parentsโ Orientation for both Junior High School and Senior High School, presenting significant updates on academic policies, student discipline, uniform regulations, and institutional adjustments for the upcoming School Year 2026โ2027.
The program opened with a Prayer presented through AVP, followed by the singing of the nationalistic song โPilipinas Kong Mahal.โ Dr. Olivia Q. Martin, Principal IV, delivered the opening remarks, she emphasizes the importance of strong collaboration between parents and the school in guiding studentsโ academic and personal development.
The Orientation Proper was led by Assistant School Principal II, Maโam Michelle D. Zambale, who first discussed the Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of the Three-Term Calendar in Basic Education. According to the guidelines, the school year will consist of no more than 220 days, beginning not earlier than the first Monday of June and not later than the last day of August.
The academic calendar will be divided into three terms, each consisting of an Opening Block, Instructional Block, and End-of-Term Block. She highlighted that this newly introduced school calendar system aims to protect instructional time, reduce unnecessary transitions, and allow all students to achieve deeper mastery of lessons through more manageable pacing.
Following the discussion of the academic calendar, she also emphasized the stricter implementation of MNHS regarding students wearing the proper school uniform. For Senior High School students, both male and female learners are required to wear a gray polo with the official school logo patch. Male students must pair this with straight-cut pants and black shoes, while female students are required to wear black slacks with black shoes.
For Junior High School students, male learners must wear a white polo with the school logo patch, paired with navy blue pants and black shoes. Female students are required to wear the prescribed MNHS uniform consisting of a blouse with the school logo patch, pink ribbons, and a pink skirt, partnered with black shoes. MNHS stressed that compliance with the uniform policy will be strictly monitored throughout the school year.
The School Rules and Regulations were also discussed, highlighting their purpose in guiding student behavior within school premises. These policies cover both student-to-student and student-to-teacher interactions, ensuring a safe, respectful, and protected learning environment throughout the school year. Students were reminded that violations of these rules will result in corresponding consequences.
Meanwhile, the Levels of Discipline on Bullying were explained by MNHS School Counselor Maโam Annie D. Doce, RGC. The discussion outlined the different offenses and violations related to bullying, as well as the corresponding disciplinary actions. The disciplinary process is categorized into three levels, where the first offense involves a conference between the student and the teacher only. While the second offense includes a meeting involving the student, parents, and teacher. And a third offense results in disciplinary action, such as community service within school premises. For instance, students assigned to morning classes may complete their required disciplinary tasks after their instructional hours to ensure that their academic time is not compromised.The counselor also emphasized the importance of accountability among students and the role of parents in guiding their childrenโs behavior, not only within school but also outside its premises.
One of the most significant discussions during the orientation was the institutional adjustment due to classroom shortages and increasing student population of MNHS. The Division Office of Malabon City acknowledged that MNHS is currently facing limitations in classrooms, buildings, and learning facilities, which may affect the quality of the learning environment of students.
To address this concern, the Division Office of Malabon City has allocated funding that allows MNHS to utilize an external institution as an extension of its campus. Selected students will be relocated to Arellano UniversityโElisa Esguerra Campus, where designated spaces will be exclusively used by MNHS learners.
According to Dr. Olivia Q. Martin, the initial groups identified for this arrangement include Senior High School students, as they are considered more mature and can adapt more faster than lower grade levels, incoming Grade 8 students are also chosen, because based on their behavioral assessments from the previous school year their records shows fewer disciplinary concerns making them the lesser affected grade level in JHS.
MNHS and the Division Office assured all parents that there will be clear separation between MNHS students and Arellano University students within the shared facility. Each institution will maintain its own designated spaces and resources to ensure order, safety, and proper management. The said changes will take place around months of July and August, to prepare the selected students from the institutional changes.
This measure was presented to provide transparency and to help parents understand the need for such adjustments, given the increasing student population and the schoolโs commitment to maintaining a conducive learning environment. Additional reminders were also provided, including the release of class schedules through respective class advisers and the importance of adhering to all school policies.
All students of MNHS are advised to attend classes on Monday, June 8, for the opening block. This is for class advisers and students to better discuss the schedule of their class and to get to know each other.
The program concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Olivia Q. Martin, who highlighted the importance of adaptability amid these changes and reaffirmed the schoolโs commitment to delivering quality education despite existing challenges. Through this orientation, MNHS aims to strengthen its partnership with parents and reinforces its goal of providing a structured, disciplined, and supportive educational environment for all students.
