On November 18 2025 there was a presentation held at the PAASCU Headquarters. There was a group of grade 8 students tasked to do a project about flood control. Their project title was Rising water Rising Preparedness a community-based Arduino flood control and gauging system the names of the students are Jamie Amber L Villanueva, Kiel Angelo Estrella, Athena Luisse S Roman, Cian Anjello Giero B Cruz, and Xian Geoffrey G Soliman. Prior to the exhibit, an opening remark was started by Ms. Analizza P Pleรฑos and an invocation by Mr Arjel V. Valeriano. Teachers, parents and spectators were also present in the event.
They started by introducing the perennial problem on floods, after that they introduced the mechanism of the prototype like Probe that measures water, Signal lights that show the current water levels or road condition, and the water pump that automatically activates when the water reaches a certain level transporting the flood water to the water reservoir. Different colors of the signal lights are Green, Yellow, and red, Green meaning safe to pass, yellow meaning light vehicles canโt pass and red meaning the road is not passable. Next, they showed the components of the prototype first the Arduino it serves as the brain and the motherboard of the prototype, second the LED lights it showcases the current road condition of the area, and lastly the Power Pump its job is to drain water to low lying areas The last thing they have done was to show the project prototype to everyone present in the event. A Closing Prayer was led by Mrs. Carmencita D Centeno after the open forum and it was concluded. It was indeed a very useful and unique invention.
This project has demonstrated the skills, and the determination of the students of Immaculate Conception Academy of Malabon (ICAM). Hats off to them that they have made The ICAM community proud. Credits were also given to their coach Mr. John Paolo C Tampos and their Science Investigatory Project adviser Ms. Josephine G Nepomuceno for helping them throughout their project.
