๐๐ค A Celebration of Mary, Vocation, and Total Surrender to God ๐ค๐
August 22, 2026 | Patronal Celebration of the Missionaries of Charity
Today, we joyfully celebrate the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Patronal Celebration of the Missionaries of Charityโa beautiful occasion that reminds us of Maryโs humble โyesโ and her complete openness to Godโs will. ๐๐น
The Gospel proclaimed today from Luke 2:41โ52, the Finding of Jesus in the Temple, gives us a profound reflection on vocation and mission.
When Mary and Joseph found Jesus in the Temple, Jesus said:
ยซโDid you not know that I must be in my Fatherโs house?โ
โ Luke 2:49ยป
These words reveal the heart of Jesus: His life was completely dedicated to the Father and to His mission.
In a beautiful way, this same spirit of total surrender is reflected in the vocation of the Missionaries of Charity. Their lives are dedicated to seeking, loving, and serving Jesusโespecially in the poorest of the poor.
Today was made even more meaningful as the Missionaries of Charity Sisters renewed their vows, recommitting themselves to a life of poverty, chastity, obedience, and wholehearted service to the poorest of the poor. ๐๐๐ค
Their renewal reminds us that a vocation is not simply a promise made once. It is a daily โyesโ to Godโa continual surrender of oneself so that Christ may be loved and served through our lives.
Like Mary, may they continue to treasure Godโs call in their hearts and faithfully follow wherever He leads.
We are deeply grateful for this beautiful Eucharistic celebration presided over by Most Rev. Cyril B. Villarreal, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Kalibo, together with Msgr. Frederick Malacas and Rev. Fr. Paul Andrew Sayon.
May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen and Mother, continue to guide and protect the Missionaries of Charity in their sacred vocation.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, Cause of Our Joy, pray for us.
Mary, Queen of the Missionaries of Charity, pray for us.
St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us. ๐
