With tassels turned and diplomas in hand, 549 graduates from the College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) marked the completion of their academic journey during Bulacan State Universityโs TAYOG 2026 graduation rites held June 9 at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.
Carrying the theme โPag-angat ng Kakayahan at Kaalaman Tungo sa Maunlad at Makabagong Pilipinas,โ the ceremony also honored 310 graduates from the College of Arts and Letters (CAL), and 265 from the College of Nursing (CON), bringing together a total of 1,124 graduates.
Representing the graduating class, batch valedictorian Juan Rafael D. Camasis, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) graduate who earned a 1.117 general weighted average (GWA), reflected on his journey from academic struggles to academic success, sharing how failures and setbacks shaped his perspective on perseverance and reliance on others.
โNothing you see in me was made by me. I did not walk in this spot alone,โ he said, crediting his achievements not to individual effort, but to the support of his family, friends, professors, and faith. He also reminded his fellow graduates that their success was also shaped by encouragement, sacrifices, and prayers of those who stood by them.
Camasis, who graduated Summa Cum Laude, also encouraged the Class of 2026 to remain steadfast as they enter a new chapter of their lives, emphasizing that graduation is not the end of their journey, but a beginning of new challenges and opportunities.
โThis graduation is merely the end of a single lap. There are so many laps to run, so many heights to achieve, and more fears to conquer,โ he said.
As the graduates prepared to embark on new journeys beyond the university, guest speaker Senator Paolo Benigno โBamโ Aquino IV introduced the proposed School-to-Employment (STEP) Program, which he said aims to help graduates transition smoothly from school to employment.
โMalinaw ang tulay mula sa paaralan papuntang trabaho,โ he said, describing it as a measure that seeks to create a clearer pathway from education to employment.
Aquino also reminded the graduates of the importance of their participation in shaping the future.
โMahalaga ang boses ninyo, huwag na huwag kayong tatahimik. Mahalaga ang inyong partisipasyon, ang pagbabago ay [nasa] kamay ninyo. Mahalaga ang inyong pangarap, ipaglaban ninyo,โ he said.
The ceremony also featured special awards and recognitions from Senator Aquino, given to selected students in recognition of their academic excellence and leadership.
The ceremony concluded with the Oath of Loyalty to the Alma Mater and the Oath of Loyalty to BulSU Alumni Association, as graduates formally reaffirmed their gratitude and commitment to the university before stepping into new paths ahead.
