The Department of the Interior and Local Government issued a directive yesterday stating that government agencies responsible for disaster response and healthcare will continue to operate.

Heavy rain continues to affect nearly all provinces in the country, prompting government officials to take precautionary measures to protect public health.

High tide levels have also led to floodwater in low-lying areas, therefore endangering the safety of commuters and local school communities.

Residents are urged to remain indoors and follow official advisories from city officials and school administrations for further updates.

In response to the risks posed by the enhanced southwest monsoon, the City Government of Malolos has also suspended classes at all levels in public and private schools.

Weather disturbances and elevated tide levels have caused several roads to become impassable, especially in low-lying areas, making travel difficult and unsafe.

The administration of BulSU LHS has advised students to monitor official announcements from local authorities and coordinate with their subject teachers accordingly.

๐ˆ๐ ๐๐‡๐Ž๐“๐Ž๐’: After a two-week delay, the annual club officer election at Bulacan State University โ€“ Laboratory High School was held today, July 15, at Caprio Hallโ€™s audiovisual room to elect new sets of leaders for each club who will spearhead preparations for the upcoming Academic, Cultural, and Talents (ACT) Festival.

The ACT Festival, a week-long celebration of all club-led activities, will debut this academic year alongside the addition of the Junior Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao Clubโ€”marking a major shift from previous years, when club events were held monthly rather than being consolidated.

Only current class officers were eligible to vote and be nominated in the election, following the same protocol observed in previous years.

Positions were opened in hierarchical order, starting with club presidents, followed by vice presidents, members of the finance committee, public relations officers, muses, and escorts.

The Junior English Club is assigned to lead the institutionโ€™s Teachersโ€™ Day celebration on October 11, while the Junior Filipino Club will organize a separate program for Buwan ng Wika on August 29.

The recycling symbol, a green badge promising that our plastic waste will be responsibly reborn, has provided us with false comfort for decades. However, this promise conceals the alarming fact that less than 9% of plastic waste is recycled worldwide. The remainder ends up in landfills, is released into streams, or breaks down into tiny plastic particles that invade our oceans, our atmosphere, and even our bloodstreams.

Discreetly, government subsidies deliberately lower the cost of fresh plastic. Broken recycling systems make it more expensive to collect and process used plastic than it is to produce new materials. That shiny new plastic becomes even more affordable overnight when oil prices decline. For this reason, it is more cost-effective for businesses to simply create a new water bottle from scratch rather than using your recycled one. Until these financial issues are resolved, recycling plastic will always be more costly, and businesses will continue to produce new plastic.

Meanwhile, for Bulacan State University โ€“ Laboratory High School, which has already undergone online learning modalities since yesterday, classes will push through according to schedule this afternoon.

School officials and educators are urged to oversee distance learning sessions to maintain academic continuity despite the bad weather.

With classes moving indoors for most, authorities call on families to stay alert and make preparations in advance should prolonged bad weather persist.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: To further orient all attendees during the third week since the opening of classes, students and faculty of Bulacan State University โ€“ Laboratory High School gathered last Monday, June 30, at Valencia Hall for a general assembly.

The assembly focused on the presentation of the school calendar by the principal, Ms. Niรฑa Lilia Javier, and the introduction of the updated rules and regulations by the newly appointed discipline coordinator, Mrs. Emeline Mercado.

However, due to the facultyโ€™s events with the College of Education, some activities on the school calendar were postponed, including the election of club officers.

It was also announced that a school jacket would be issued and made mandatory, replacing the use of personal jackets, prompting mixed reactions from the audience.

โ€œBaka maging problem โ€™yung price [of the jacket],โ€ a senior student remarked when asked about the addition of the rule to the handbook.

Officials explained that the policy aims to uphold the institutionโ€™s integrity, although details such as the pricing and design have yet to be released.

Looking back as this yearโ€™s Pride Month ends and as a member of the LGBTQIA+ Community, Lady Gagaโ€™s โ€œBorn This Wayโ€ from 2011 is the epitome of a q***r icon song. A national anthem, if not yet, for those who are q***r. And for the right reasons.

Those three words, Born, This, and Way, managed to support generations and many more to come regarding their own sexuality. A song of self-acceptance, love, and being born this wayโ€”yeah! I, a teen, was personally also affected by this songโ€”especially when Iโ€™m at the time of accepting my sexuality.

Born This Way is one of those songs that defined generations of teenagers to come. You can walk up to anyone and ask to sing the song, and they will. And that is probably since the song does not limit those who may support and uplift the community. No matter gay, straight, bi, le***an, or transgender, you are born that way.

Every member of LGBTQIA+ Community has probably already heard the song. With those iconic beats and tunes, itโ€™s a task to not sing or dance along. Itโ€™s such a simple song with such consequential meaning and lyrics. Funnily enough, only three words are needed to outrage die-hard conservativesโ€”labelling Gaga as a satanic symbolโ€”and uplift those closeted LGBTQIA+ members.

The song summarizes the whole experience of being a teen that is a part of the community. Itโ€™s not a phase, not a lifestyle, not a disorder, and never an anomaly. Itโ€™s me. Iโ€™m a part of the community. And being born that way is what reassures me that Iโ€™m not a problem that needs attention, Iโ€™m Me that needs the appreciation everyone has. And for those that are still unsure of their gender, donโ€™t shame yourself in regret. Be yourself and respect your youth.

Being born this way is a simple message to make us validate ourselvesโ€”thatโ€™s what made it a hit and q***r anthem in the first place, due to its simple delivery. To be constantly reminded of our worth is a good thing. But let us know that we donโ€™t need to be reminded of our worth. Do not forget that no matter what they will say and no matter what they think, we are worthy of all the love in the world. Weโ€™re not broken and we do not need any fixing.

Thereโ€™s nothing wrong in loving who you are. โ€˜Cause He made you perfect, babe!
