| via Josh Mallari

UNIVERSITY UPDATE | Bulacan State University (BulSU) implemented the suspension of face-to-face classes shifting it to synchronous online modality across all classes and campuses of the university with faculty members expected to conduct their classes through appropriate online platforms, until Sunday, August 23, 2026.

Associated with the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), and continuing condition which put other municipalities in Bulacan in state of calamity, said faculty members are expected to give leniency and excuses for the students who won’t get to fulfill their full responsibilities in this time, particularly those affected by flooding, internet connectivity issues, and other weather-related circumstances.

In the meantime, Non-Academic Personnel (NAP) and faculty members under Vacation and Sick Leave (VSL) are expected to report on-site during the said period.

Students and university personnel are advised to remain attentive to official announcements, more so to practice safety and remain updated on advisories that may affect university operations and academic activities. | via Alexa Manalo

| via Jhon Vincent Mahilum, THE SIZZLERS

IN PHOTOS | Preparations for this year's Balangayan sa Unibersidad officially began as the Bulacan State University Office of Student Organizations and Activities (BulSU-OSOA) gathered recognized student organizations for the Pre-Balangayan 2026, carrying the theme "LAGOM: Lipon ng mga Pamana sa Ibayong Paglalayag" at the E-Library Amphitheater on August 1.

Serving as an avenue to present plans and gather student organizations ahead of the university-wide event, the program introduced the activities and improvements prepared for Balangayan 2026 while encouraging collaboration among participating organizations.

OSOA Executive Board XVIII Chairperson Ma. Merry Jellene D.C. Dela Cruz shared that this year's theme, "Lagom," reflects the goal of bringing together the different featured activities under one direction. She added that the executive board also considered feedback from previous years to improve the overall implementation of the program.

Featured activities for this year's Balangayan sa Unibersidad were introduced by the OSOA Executive Board, including Gauran at Layag, Komersyo, Daloy, Saysay, Daungan, and Hatag.

Dela Cruz also emphasized that Balangayan 2026 aims to introduce systems and projects that future executive boards can continue instead of limiting the initiatives to a single year. She noted that improvements made this year are intended to strengthen student organizations and make succeeding Balangayan celebrations more organized.

Set to take place this September 14-17 and 19, Balangayan sa Unibersidad 2026 will feature its renewed lineup of activities centered on leadership, collaboration, service, and sustainability among BulSU's recognized student organizations. | via Yma Rafols, The SIZZLERS
