The Grains holds qualifying procedures for campus journalists

The Grains, the official school publication of Occidental Mindoro National High School, conducted its annual qualifying procedures for campus journalists today from 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Over 150 aspirants from both the main campus and San Luis Extension participated, marking a historic largest number of examinees.

The school paper advisers led the activity, supported by a committee of examiners composed of the board of editors, arts and media team, as well as senior writers and broadcasters.

The qualifying procedures were initially set on July 4, but were rescheduled due to inclement weather and class suspension. Slots were opened for all individual and group categories to the current pool of writers, as the publication aims to release two issues this school year, one in English and one in Filipino.

Meanwhile, the selection process is ongoing with the assistance from designated coaches. Training schedules for the upcoming Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) are currently being finalized. The DSPC is expected to be held in November with Mamburao District serving as host.

Sa panibagong kabanata, sila ang ating makakatuwang sa pamamahayag ng katotohanan at katarungan. Ang kanilang tinta ay magsisilbing boses ng nakararami at liwanag para sa lahat.

𝗠𝗴𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱-𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀

Mga Butil, the official school publication of Occidental Mindoro National High School, held a send-off program to 18 graduating and moving-up student journalists on 9:00 a.m., Friday, April 4 at the OMNHS Feeding Center. The program aimed to express appreciation and reward the journalists for keeping the years-long momentum of the publication’s success in division and regional press conferences.

The program was organized by the school paper advisers and the non-graduating journalists. Coaches from various categories attended, Ma’am Jessica S. Layug for Radio Broadcasting – English, Ma’am Ria Joy D. Adora for TV Broadcasting – English, and Ma’am Jovanni C. Mercado, Science and Technology Writing. Each coach also provided words of advice and shared success stories.

Each journalist was given a certificate highlighting their individual achievements and contribution to the publication.

A few graduating students shared their inspiring stories and words of encouragement to the younger journalists, namely Matt Reneil M. Navarro, Editor-in-Chief and Photojournalist; Jhe Ann I. Magpantay, Associate Editor and News Writer; Mikkah Shaleena V. Lastimoso, TV Scriptwriter and News Anchor; and Royce Rohan D. Driza, Layout Artist.

Ma’am Richel Timbas, the school paper adviser in Filipino, ended the program with a reminder to everyone to maintain their unyielding passion and dedication to be the voice of truth, and live with the virtue of responsible journalism.

Mga Mag-aaral ng G12, dumalo sa Pre-immersion Seminar

Paghahatid ng kaalaman sa mga praktikang propesyunal ang layon ng idinaos na Pre-Immersion Seminar para sa mga mag-aaral ng Baitang 12 kahapon, Enero 16, 2025 sa Open Gymnasium ng OMNHS.

Sinimulan ang naturang palihan sa pag-awit ng Lupang Hinirang, sinundan ng panalangin at pambungad na pananalita ni Marivel V. Aguda, EdD, DHum, Punongg**o IV.

Tinalakay ng unang tagapagsalita na si Micaela G. Panopio, CHRA, ang tungkol sa Work Ethics. Pinag-usapan sa bahaging ito ang kahalagahan ng Work Ethics at mga propesyonal na pagkilos sa loob ng trabaho. Kasunod nito ay ang pagbabahagi ng kaalaman ni Jihadee G. Tadalan na nagbigay ng ideya sa paksa na Health and Safety Protocols, partikular sa kung paano natin mapananatili ang ligtas na kapaligiran sa oras na magsagawa ng Work Immersion. Pagkatapos nito ay nagtanghal ng pampasiglang bilang na pag-awit ang mag-aaral mula sa STEM 12-2 na si Xi-Louise Z. Sotto.

Sa pagpapatuloy ng programa, tinalakay naman ni Kristent Leo D. Tuscano, Katuwang na Punongg**o II, ang paksang Memorandum of Agreement. Bahagi ng naging talakayan ang mga bagay na karapatan at 'di karapatan ng isang estudyante sa pagitan ng organisasyon ng kompanyang kinabibilangan niya. Nagbigay testimonya naman si Harriet C. Alfaro, sa kanyang mga karanasan sa kanyang naging work immersion noong siya ay mag-aaral pa lamang. Ilan naman sa kaniyang mga ibinahaging kaalaman ay ang 3Ps, Preparedness, Persevere, at Progress.

Ipinagpatuloy ang palihan pagkatapos ng pananghalian. Sa pagsisimula muli ay nagbahagi naman ng kaalaman sa pagsulat ng Application Letter at Resume si Rexel S. Tuscano, Executive Assistant IV. Binigyang-diin niya na ang mga impormasyong nararapat malaman ng mga mag-aaral sa paggawa ng nasabing paksa. Sinundan naman ito ng isa pang pampasiglang bilang na pinangunahan ni Ezer Troy Balquin, ABM 12-1.

Muling nagpatuloy ang programa sa paghahatid ng kaalaman sa katauhan ni Hon. Leonard M. Almero, Kapitan ng Brgy. Payompon. Sa bahaging ito, tinalakay niya ang tamang proseso ng pagkuha at pagpapagawa ng Barangay Certification at Cedula. Sinundan naman ito ng huling tagapagsalita na si PEMS Maria Eliza C. Palabay na nagbahagi ng paksang may kaugnayan sa pagproseso ng Police Clearance, kung saan ibinahagi sa mga mag-aaral ang sunod-sunod na hakbang sa pagkuha ng Police Clearance gamit ang teknolohiya.

Bilang pagtatapos, nag-iwan ng pangwakas na pananalita ang Katuwang na Punongg**o na si Kristent Leo D. Tuscano, Punongg**o II.

Bilang tinta ng katotohanan at katarungan, ang mamamahayag ng Mga Butil sa Occidental Mindoro National High School ay masigasig at dedikado sa paghahatid ng balita at komentaryong napapanahon at may kaugnayan sa buhay ng mga mag-aaral at g**o, edukasyon, at kalayaan sa pamamahayag.
