Sacrifices for Freedom
By | Althea Lopez

Voices were silenced for many years,
As those with power covered their ears.
Blood, sweat, and tears kept rippling,
Who would save those who are crying?

Heroes who stand for the people,
Sacrificing life, breath, and all.
Declaring our Independence from conquerors,
Celebrating freedom of the land that’s finally ours.

On 12th of June, we raise our hand
To honor freedom in our land.
On this day our voices was finally heard,
An independence we once dreamed, earned.

We declared our individuality,
From conquerors we broke free.
Our wings are now flying freely,
Because of the heroes who fought entirely.

We wave our flag graciously,
Symbolizing we won confidently.
The fight for rights may never end,
But we are free—forever independent.
