I credit this baking obsession to my fellow content creator who always shares the best bread recipes! I started my bread making journey following her incredibly detailed recipes na super beginner friendly! ๐๐ฅ๐ซ
๐๐ก๐๐ฅ๐๐๐๐๐ก๐ง๐ฆ:
Tangzhong (Bread Improver)
- 3 Tbsp (30g) Bread Flour
- ยฝ cup (125 ml) Full Cream Milk
Bread Dough:
- 2 ยฝ cups (400g) Bread Flour
- 2 Tbsp (20g) Milk Powder
- 1 tsp (5g) Salt
- โ
cup (70g) Sugar
- 2 ยผ tsp (6g) Saf-instantYeast
- Tangzhong (from above)
- 1/2 cup (125ml) Full Cream Milk
- 1 Egg
- 30g Butter, softened
Cheese Filling:
- 20 small cheese cubes (Cheddar, Quickmelt, Mozzarella, or Processed Cheese)
Cheesy Streusel Topping:
- ยฝ cup (113g) Butter, softened
- ยฝ cup (115g) Sugar
- ยฝ cup (63g) Powdered Milk (full cream is better)
- 1 cup (165g) Bread Flour
- 1 cup (100g) Grated Cheese (Cheddar)
For Coating:
- ยฝ cup Evaporated Milk or Full Cream Milk

1. Make the Tangzhong: In a saucepan, cook bread flour and milk over low heat until thick and paste-like. Remove from heat and let cool.
2. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, combine bread flour, milk powder, salt, sugar, yeast, Tangzhong, milk, and egg until a sticky dough forms. Add butter and knead until smooth and elastic, about 10โ12 minutes by hand or on medium-high speed with a mixer.
3. First rise: Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
4. Make the streusel: Mix butter, sugar, milk powder, and flour until crumbly. Add grated cheese and mix again, then set aside.
5. Shape and fill: Punch down the dough, divide into 40g pieces (12โ16 total), and roll into balls. Rest 10 minutes. Flatten each ball, add 1 cheese cube in the center, seal, and roll smooth again.
6. Coat with streusel: Lightly dip each ball in milk (quick dip only) and roll in streusel until fully coated.
7. Final rise and bake: Arrange on a lined tray with space in between. Cover and let rise for 30โ45 minutes until puffy. Bake at 180ยฐC (350ยฐF) for 15โ18 minutes or until golden brown.

My streusel turned out a bit clumpy (hence the clumps on the toppings) because I combined everything all at onceโadd the cheese last when the ingredients are already well combined to avoid this.
