In ministry, taking a 'Selah' moment is something my wife Dee, JD, and I have come to deeply value. Proverbs 17:22 tells us, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” And that speaks to us personally. If we don’t take time to step back, unwind, and truly breathe, our spirit begins to feel the weight.
It affects how we love, how we serve, and how we walk with God. For us, it’s not about fancy trips or expensive escapes, though if we can afford it, why not? What really matters is being intentional about carving out time to just be with each other as a couple, with JD, to laugh, to reflect, and to recharge.
These family moments are priceless. It’s in these times of stepping away that clarity, joy, and strength is restored by recalibrating with the Holy Spirit. Ministry is a beautiful calling, but we’ve learned that you can’t give what you don’t have. So, we take time. We pause. Not just for us, but for the people we love, the people we serve, and for the God who has called us to this journey.
This is Talk Dear Family, this is life, family, and purpose. To God be all the glory!
