SC KUMILOS SA HILING NA IBALIK SI DUTERTE MULA ICC DETENTION

Inatasan ng Supreme Court (SC) ang Malacañang at ilang miyembro ng gabinete na magsumite ng kanilang comments kaugnay ng habeas corpus petition na inihain ng mga kaanak ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Sa petisyon, hiniling sa Korte Suprema na utusan ang gobyerno na gawin ang kinakailangang hakbang para ma-secure ang pagbabalik ni Duterte mula sa International Criminal Court (ICC) detention.

Binigyan ang mga respondent ng hindi na maa-extend na 30 araw para magsumite ng kanilang memorandum.

CONSTRUCTION OF P3.126B DAVAO RIVER BRIDGE 99.2% COMOLETE, SET TO OPEN BY DECEMBER 2025

Construction of the P3.126-billion Davao River (Bucana) Bridge project is almost complete with only minor works remaining, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said on Wednesday that as per report by Senior Undersecretary Emil Sadain, the bridge was 99.2 percent complete and was expected to open by December 2025.

"The 4.76-kilometer, four-lane bridge has now reached 99.2 percent completion," said Dizon, adding that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the DPWH to expedite the bridge's construction, which is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity between the eastern and western coastal areas in Davao City.

In his report, Sadain assured that the bridge would be opened once DPWH Regional Office 11 completed the asphalt road to Quezon Boulevard, which would serve as the main access route for motorists traveling to and from the Bucana Bridge and the Davao City Coastal Road.

“We are expediting the completion of the bridge's final requirements so it can be safely opened to the public. Our priority is to deliver this bridge with the highest level of quality, safety standards, and structural integrity,” added Sadain.

DUTERTE INTERIM RELEASE, HINDI PINAYAGAN NG ICC

Hindi pinagbigyan ng International Criminal Court (ICC) Appeals Chamber ang apela na interim release o pansamantalang pagpapalaya kay dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Inanunsyo ito ng Appeals Chamber ngayong Biyernes, Nov. 28.

Sa kanilang desisyon, ni-reject ng Appeals Chamber ang tatlong ground of appeal ng kampo ni Duterte.

Wala si Duterte sa pagbababa ng desisyon matapos niyang i-waive ang karapatang makadalo. Ang kaniyang abogadong si Atty. Nicholas Kaufman ang humarap para sa dating pangulo.

Naunang dineny ng Pre-Trial Chamber I ang hiling na interim release para kay Duterte noong Sept. 26, kaya ito inapela ng defense team.

Halos siyam na buwan nang nakakulong si Duterte sa The Hague dahil sa kinakaharap na kasong crimes against humanity kaugnay ng kaniyang war on drugs.

Leviste: DPWH is hiding budget insertions of ₱722B in 2025, ₱497B in 2026

TheDepartment of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) knows who are the proponents behind P721.8 billion insertions in the agency’s budget for 2025, and another P496.9 billion for the upcoming 2026 budget cycle, Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste said on Thursday.

Leviste in a statement said that he cannot watch the DPWH call itself to be for transparency when it is supposedly hiding the people behind the insertions in the 2025 and 2026 National Expenditures Program (NEP), or the budget submitted by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to Congress.

"The DPWH has a database of the proponents in the NEP, which they should release if they are truly for transparency. There were P721.83 Billion insertions for 2025 and P496.97 Billion insertions for 2026, and I cannot in good conscience watch DPWH claim to be for transparency without pointing this out," Leviste said.

At the next presscon of DPWH, they can admit that they have hidden something and the NEP has been charged with insertions up to now,” he added in Filipino.

According to the lawmaker, DPWH's hesitation to release the full list might be because aside from members of the House of Representative and the Senate, cabinet officials — secretaries and undersecretaries —also made proposals to the NEP.
