RECAPPED | SHS Community gathers in Faith for Cor Jesu Via Crucis
On March 31, 2026, the Magis Eagles Arena became a space of solemn reflection as the Senior High School community gathered for the annual Via Crucis, or Stations of the Cross. The event brought together students, faculty, and various organizations in a meaningful reenactment of Christ’s journey to Calvary.
The program opened with an exposition by Bro. Jaime Martin Candelaria, SJ, who emphasized the deeper meaning of the Via Crucis. He described the Stations of the Cross as “a way to walk with Jesus,” encouraging everyone present to go beyond passive observation. “Not just to watch, but to accompany Jesus, to stay with Him as He falls, as He bears the weight of the cross, as He meets people along the way, as He gives everything for love,” he shared. Bro. Candelaria further reminded the audience that “to love is to pay attention,” inviting the community to be fully present in both the reflection and in their daily lives.
A number of students and student organizations took part in portraying the different Stations of the Cross. Through a combination of acting, prayer, song, and reflection, they guided the audience in meditating on the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus. Each station was presented with sincerity and depth, allowing viewers not only to witness but to spiritually engage in the experience.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Labadan, who expressed his gratitude to all those who made the Via Crucis possible. He acknowledged the efforts of the participating student organizations—Spotlight, SACRA, YCLC, and Aviden—as well as the Campus Ministry, Social Involvement group, and the student commentators who helped bring the program to life.
Through this year’s Via Crucis, the community was reminded of the power of faith, unity, and attentive love, leaving participants with a renewed sense of reflection as they continue their Lenten journey.
