GCash Customer Support Will Always Be Free: Beware of Fake Social Media Support and Unauthorized "Fixers" Schemes

GCash reminds its users that legitimate customer assistance is always 100% free. To protect users from phishing and fraudulent schemes, account holders should only report issues only through the official in-app Help Center and official web portal (help.gcash.com). GCash emphasizes that official GCash Customer Service representatives will never demand payments, fees, or sensitive account information to resolve customer inquiries. Moreover, GCash does not engage with any third-party account assistance services, warning users that all social media pages offering such services for a fee are fraudulent.

Fraudsters have increasingly taken to social media, advertising themselves as third-party services capable of "unblocking" suspended accounts, lifting wallet limits, or transferring funds or accounts for a fee. These are unauthorized account "restoration" schemes and fake customer support pages operating on social media.

Fake Social Media Help is Outright Phishing

These fraudulent pages often pose as "GCash Help Center," monitoring public posts and sliding into users’ Direct Messages (DMs) to offer fake support. These unauthorized individuals will request for the user’s personal details and charge fees merely to submit standard support tickets using the victim's personal details. In dire cases, scammers use the interaction to steal the users’ funds stored in the app. GCash advises users to never engage with and pay anyone promising to “fix” your account. Anyone reaching out via social media DMs offering customer support or help is attempting to phish user credentials.

GCash strongly reiterates that it has NO customer support pages, public groups, or live chat agents on Facebook and other social media platforms. All customer concerns should only be coursed through official GCash Help channels.

Handing over personal information, valid IDs, or credentials to these fake pages gives scammers complete access to hack and control GCash wallets and bank accounts. Furthermore, scammers use stolen personal IDs to set up illegal mule accounts. Falling for this scam doesn't just mean losing money—it can expose victims to severe legal repercussions and implicate them in cybercrime investigations.

Scammers often mimic GCash support to gain your trust. One simple way to spot them is by checking the sender's email domain:

Scammers also use deceptive email addresses, such as [email protected], to mimic official support. Legitimate GCash customer support will never use public domains like .com or .com.

❌ Fake support emails use public domains like .com or .com

✅Official GCash support email comes exclusively from [email protected], once you have successfully filed an inquiry via customer service and given a ticket number via the GCash app.

To stay safe, GCash reminds users that:

GCash will never ask for your One-Time Password (OTP) or MPIN. If you have shared your MPIN or OTP, please change it right away via your GCash App: Go to Profile > Security Center > Change MPIN

GCash will never slide into your social media DM (direct message) to resolve an issue or request personal documents. This is done securely via [email protected] when you have an active inquiry ticket filed in-app.

GCash will never charge a fee to resolve a customer service request.

If you need assistance, use ONLY these official GCash support channels:

Manila Water Philippine Ventures ramps up preparedness in Cebu and other operating units as PH braces for “very strong” El Niño

As the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts a "very strong" El Niño that could persist until the first quarter of 2027, Manila Water Philippine Ventures (MWPV), the Non-East Zone subsidiary of Manila Water Company, is intensifying its preparedness measures across its service areas nationwide to help ensure reliable water supply amid projected prolonged dry weather conditions.

According to PAGASA, up to 85 provinces across the country may experience dry conditions, dry spells, and drought from late October 2026 to March 2027 as the El Niño phenomenon continues to intensify. The weather bureau warned that the climatic event, characterized by unusually warm sea surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific Ocean, could significantly impact rainfall patterns and place increasing pressure on water resources nationwide.

In response, MWPV has activated a range of proactive measures across its 13 operating units serving communities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, focusing on water source development, infrastructure resilience, operational readiness, and supply augmentation initiatives.

In the case of Cebu province, Manila Water Philippine Ventures (MWPV) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply for the region through proactive preparedness measures and strategic infrastructure investments as Metropolitan Cebu continues to face water supply challenges posed by severe dry weather conditions and looming impacts of a very strong El Nino.

MWPV-Cebu is currently delivering 30.3 million liters of potable water per day and has the capability to provide additional 7.5 million liters of potable water per day for Metro Cebu for approximately 12,000 households, helping address increasing water demand and El Nino while maintaining service reliability across its partner water districts. Despite prevailing dry season conditions, the Company's water source remains stable, with water continuing to overflow from the weir, demonstrating the resilience of its supply system and the ability to consistently meet current production requirements while complying with water quality standards.

To strengthen water availability during periods of prolonged dry weather, MWPV has implemented a range of El Niño preparedness initiatives. These include continuous monitoring and rehabilitation of deep wells and surface water sources, preventive maintenance programs, optimization of reservoir utilization, and the exploration of new water source projects. The Company has also readied water tankers and mobile treatment plants, enhanced backwash recovery programs in its treatment facilities, and prepared standby deep wells to help augment supply when needed.

To address future water demand and reinforce supply resilience, MWPV is preparing to undertake a major water supply infrastructure project through the development of new source facility, treatment and pumping station facility

The new infrastructure is expected to deliver an additional of at least 12.5 million liters of water supply per day to approximately 20,000 households, further boosting the reliability and resilience of Metro Cebu's water system.

"The combination of our current supply reliability, robust El Niño preparedness measures, and planned capacity expansion provides support to Metro Cebu's growing water requirements. We are not only addressing today's needs but also laying the foundation for a more resilient and sustainable water future for the region," said Ruby Rose Mercado, General Manager of MWPV-Cebu.

Through proactive planning, infrastructure development, and responsible resource management, MWPV continues to work closely with its partners to help secure the long-term water future of Metro Cebu and support the region's residential, commercial, and industrial growth.

Similar to its parent company Manila Water which has long-prepared Metro Manila’s East Zone for the potential impacts of a strong El Nino, MWPV remains committed to safeguarding water security through proactive planning, diversified water sources, operational readiness, and strategic infrastructure investments the way it has prepared its other operating units nationwide such as Metro Ilagan Water, Calasiao Water, Laguna Water, Laguna Aquatech and Tanauan Water in Luzon; Boracay Water and Calbayog Water in the Visayas and Tagum Water in Mindanao; as well as Manila Water’s B2B operating units Estate Water and Manila Water Infratech Solutions Through these initiatives, the company continues to strengthen its ability to provide reliable water services and support the long-term sustainability and growth of the communities it serves.

2GO Mobilizes Volunteers, Supports Nationwide Coastal Cleanup with Logistics and Supplies

Cebu City — Reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship and cleaner coastal communities, 2GO Group, Inc. mobilized 149 employee-volunteers across key coastal locations nationwide for this year’s International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), in partnership with SM Cares.

As part of the annual global initiative, 2GO teams participated in coastal cleanup activities across Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Cebu, and Manila, helping remove waste from shorelines and supporting efforts to keep coastal communities clean.

In Manila, 2GO volunteers collected a total of 207 kilograms of waste from the cleanup sites. 2GO estimates that the 149 volunteers diverted approximately 768 kilograms of coastal waste across all participating locations.

Beyond volunteer participation, 2GO has continued to strengthen its support for the ICC through material donations and logistics services. Since establishing its partnership with SM Cares for the ICC in 2023, the company has expanded its support to help equip volunteers and facilitate the movement of essential cleanup resources.

Supporting cleanup efforts through people, supplies, and logistics

For this year’s nationwide cleanup, 2GO donated protective gloves for volunteers, building on its previous contributions of cleanup sacks in 2024 and 2025.

The company also provided end-to-end transportation and logistics support for the delivery of heavy-duty weighing scales to cleanup sites nationwide. Building on logistical support initiated in 2025, the service helped ensure that collected waste could be accurately weighed and documented across participating sites.

By combining the dedication of its employee-volunteers with targeted material support and logistics solutions, 2GO helps drive collective action toward cleaner coastal environments and healthier communities across the country.

As a transportation and logistics company serving communities across the Philippine archipelago, 2GO recognizes the importance of supporting the communities and coastal environments connected by its network. Its continued participation in the ICC reflects 2GO’s commitment to contributing its people, resources, and capabilities to environmental initiatives across the country.

Novo’s investigational drug CagriSema linked to less ‘food noise,’ possible benefits to organs and bones

Bagsværd, Denmark – New findings presented at the 2026 Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) suggest that Novo Nordisk’s investigational drug CagriSema may offer benefits beyond weight and blood sugar control.

A 52-week brain imaging study found that CagriSema changed how the brains of people with overweight or obesity responded to images of high-calorie foods. The changes occurred in areas associated with cravings, pleasure, sensory processing and self-control.

Researchers also reported improvements in eating behavior, including reduced hunger, appetite, cravings and persistent thoughts about food, often described as “food noise.” These changes were seen after 22 weeks and were sustained through 52 weeks. Participants taking CagriSema also recorded a 22.4% greater reduction in body weight compared with placebo after one year.

Other studies presented at EASD 2026 looked at the drug’s effects on the body. In adults with type 2 diabetes, CagriSema was associated with significant reductions in harmful fat stored around the abdominal organs, including the liver and pancreas, alongside a 14.3% reduction in body weight after 40 weeks.

A separate analysis also found early signs that bone health was maintained despite substantial weight loss, with a 14.2% reduction in body weight after 68 weeks among adults with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes.

Novo Nordisk said the findings suggest CagriSema could potentially address some of the biological factors linked to obesity and type 2 diabetes—not only by reducing weight and blood sugar, but also by influencing appetite, food cravings and fat accumulation around vital organs.

Professor Tony Goldstone of Imperial College London said the brain-imaging findings were notable because reduced food cravings and changes in the brain’s response to high-calorie food cues were seen alongside lower energy intake and weight loss.

CagriSema is still an investigational treatment and is not yet approved for general use. Novo Nordisk submitted applications for obesity treatment to regulators in the United States and Canada in December 2025 and began a Phase 3 trial of a higher-dose formulation in adults with obesity in 2026.

Obesity and type 2 diabetes continue to affect hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Researchers are increasingly studying not only how much weight people lose, but also how treatments may influence appetite, where fat is stored and the overall health of organs and tissues.

Cebu Pacific Hosts Aviation Day for Aspiring Filipina Aviators

Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB) hosted 120 aspiring young Filipina aviators at its Training Academy (TRAAC) for this year's Girls in Aviation Day (GIAD), giving them a firsthand look at the people behind airline operations.

An annual international initiative of Women in Aviation International (WAI), GIAD encourages young women to explore careers in aviation and aerospace through hands-on activities, learning sessions, and conversations with industry professionals.

Led by CEB's women's community, EmpowHER, in partnership with Women in Aviation International – Philippines (WAI-PH), this year's event welcomed daughters of employees from CEB and its subsidiaries, 1Aviation and Aplus. Female students from Air Link International Aviation College, De La Salle University, G*t Andres Bonifacio High School, and Ignacio Villamor High School also took part.

At TRAAC, participants learned how teams across flight operations, aircraft maintenance, and customer experience work together to keep the airline running. They also heard from women aviation professionals, who shared their career journeys and advice on pursuing opportunities in the industry.

"Building a stronger, more inclusive aviation workforce starts by helping young people see themselves in it. By giving young women early exposure to the people, possibilities, and diverse careers behind an airline, we can help them discover where their strengths can take them, and open their minds to careers they may never have imagined,” said Felix Lopez, CEB Chief Human Resources Officer.

Women remain underrepresented in several areas of aviation, particularly in technical and flight-related roles. Through GIAD, WAI-PH and its industry partners aim to broaden young women’s exposure to aviation and inspire them to explore the many career opportunities available in the industry.

For CEB, the initiative also gives employees a way to help develop future aviation talent. Through EmpowHER and other employee-led communities, the airline encourages its people to share their experiences, create learning opportunities, and help the next generation see what a career in aviation can offer.

Converge backs Women in Cebu Media in push for women empowerment, child online protection

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Leading fiber broadband and technology provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has reaffirmed its commitment to women's empowerment and child online safety during the annual Cebu Press Freedom Week forum of STET Women in Cebu Media. This year’s STET Media Scope Forum put a critical spotlight on "Journalism Without Harm," emphasizing survivor-centered reporting on the sexual abuse of women and children.

The partnership underscores Converge’s holistic approach to technological social responsibility (TSR)—the corporate philosophy of embedding ethics, safety, and social good directly into its technology and digital infrastructure. By backing STET, an organization composed of active and retired women journalists in Cebu, Converge continues to champion professional development, media advocacy, and gender equality in the Visayas region.

A 'Symphony of Protection'

During the forum, Converge VP and Head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations Jay-Anne Encarnado highlighted the urgent need for cross-sector collaboration to combat online child exploitation and support survivors.

“While the internet opens doors to progress, it also has a dark and predatory corner. Today, the threat of Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) is rising at an alarming rate,” Encarnado said during her address. “For us at Converge, this reality is a call to action. We believe that technology is only truly meaningful when it is used to protect the most vulnerable and uplift lives. That is why we have integrated child online safeguarding into the very DNA of our operations.”

Encarnado stressed that while technology providers can secure digital pipelines, safeguarding human networks requires the active vigilance of the press and civil society.

“We at Converge realize that we are just one piece of this ecosystem. We can secure our digital networks, but we need you to safeguard the human networks. This is a symphony of protection,” she noted.

As part of its network-level defense strategy, Converge has deployed state-of-the-art cyber-security measures to proactively prevent access to illicit and abusive content. In 2025 alone, Converge successfully denied nearly 12 billion entry requests to illicit websites hosting harmful, abusive content, while blacklisting over 72,000 domains linked to prohibited content.

This massive infrastructure-level intervention represents one of the most aggressive corporate digital safety campaigns in the Philippine telecommunications sector, securing millions of Filipino homes from cyber threats and illegal exploitation.

Project PIGLET: Championing youth digital literacy

To complement its digital defenses, Converge is actively investing in education through its flagship advocacy program, Project PIGLET (Privacy Integration through Guided Learning of Emerging Technologies).

Spearheaded by the company's Corporate Governance and Data Privacy Group, Project PIGLET is an award-winning interactive campaign designed to teach school-age children and their parents about digital literacy, safe internet habits, and data privacy.

Recently recognized by the National Privacy Commission with the Kabataang Digital Award, the program has already been rolled out to schools across Metro Manila, Pampanga, Mindoro, and Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu, with plans to expand its storytelling-based curriculum nationwide.

A corporate culture anchored in women empowerment

Converge’s multi-year sponsorship of the STET Media Scope Forum is reflective of its broader corporate identity. Led and inspired by Co-Founder and President Maria Grace Uy—a prominent female leader in the male-dominated ICT sector—Converge has consistently championed gender equality, women's rights, and professional growth for women.

This year, Converge also elected former Senior Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe as its first female Chairperson of the Board.
From launching internal leadership initiatives like the MentorSHE Project—a woman-to-woman executive mentorship program—to supporting grass-roots livelihood campaigns for female artisans at social enterprise KREations, Converge actively fosters an ecosystem where women can lead and drive positive social change.

The forum was attended by active Cebu media practitioners, civil society representatives, and aspiring student journalists from various Cebuano universities. Through this engagement, Converge and STET successfully created a collaborative space for the next generation of storytellers to learn the principles of ethical, survivor-sensitive, and responsible journalism.
