Flavors from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao all in one place? 🇵🇭

My goal was to explore different dishes na wala pa nako natilawan, so I tried the Beef Piyassak, Sapapuriket, Piyanggang Manok, and more.

I also discovered some sweet treats that were new to me. Tibok Tibok quickly became a favorite, and I finally got to try the famous Buko Pie ng Laguna.

Presented by bai Hotel Cebu and the 7Flames, a group of talented chefs from different parts of the country, I had the pleasure of meeting Chef JR Royol, Chef Zhe Jacinto, Chef Mac Dowell Labrador, Chef Melisa Rocha, Chef Richard Gomez, Chef Welly Rosales, and Chef Ryan Uy Estrada.

This dining experience brings together regional specialties that showcase the diversity of Filipino cuisine.

From familiar comfort food to exciting regional delicacies, every plate offered a glimpse into the culture, traditions, and stories behind each destination.

I had a quick chat with Richard Gomez! ✨

And yes, Chef Richard Gomez from Ilocos, not the actor.😁

He's the Executive Chef of Chad's Cafe Bar and the Grand Winner of the Sarap Maging Vegan Cook Competition 2025. He brought Sapsapbureiket, a comforting Ilocano dish, to Cebu for the LuzViMinda celebration. It was a pleasure hearing his story and learning more about Ilocano cuisine.

We got to experience Flavors of LuzViMinda at CAFÉ bai, a special culinary showcase that brings together the rich and diverse tastes of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in one dining experience.

What made it even more exciting was meeting and tasting dishes from talented chefs across the country, each bringing their own regional specialties and unique take on Filipino cuisine. From comforting favorites to bold and unexpected flavors, every dish told a story of place, culture, and tradition.

In collaboration with 7Flames, the showcase features Chef Zhe Jacinto, Chef Mac Dowell Labrador, Chef JR Royol, Chef Melisa Rocha, Chef Richard Gomez, Chef Welly Rosales (Chef Welly in Action) and Chef Ryan Estrada, representing Visayas.

🌿Did you know that tea ceremonies were once reserved only for emperors and the imperial court?

The Chinese Tea Ceremony is a timeless tradition that remains deeply rooted in culture. It goes beyond brewing tea. It is about slowing down, being present, and forming meaningful connections with others.

Tea master and Zen Buddhist practitioner Regel Andaya facilitated the session, and as we watched the tea being prepared with care and intention, it became a gentle reminder to pause and simply be.

I learned a lot about tea today and appreciated it more than ever. ✨
