Disasters can strike anytime—earthquakes, typhoons, fires, floods—without warning. That's why it's crucial to be prepared with a well-packed go-bag that contains all the essentials you and your family may need to survive the first 72 hours after an emergency.
Here’s a complete list of what your go-bag should contain:
🔦 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 & 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 – Power outages are common during disasters. A flashlight helps you navigate in the dark and stay safe.
🩹 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐢𝐝 𝐊𝐢𝐭– Includes bandages, antiseptics, medicines, and other basic medical supplies for treating minor injuries or wounds.
📄 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 – Keep copies of IDs, birth certificates, insurance, and emergency contacts in a waterproof envelope.
💰 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐡 – ATMs may be offline. Small bills are especially helpful for food, transportation, or supplies.
🗺️ 𝗠𝗮𝗽 – Digital maps might not work without signal. A paper map can guide you to safe areas or evacuation centers.
📻 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆-𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 – Stay updated with official news, weather alerts, and rescue announcements even when there’s no internet or electricity.
📯 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 – A whistle can be used to call for help or alert rescuers to your location.
🥫 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 & 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 – Enough for at least 3 days. Include canned goods, biscuits, energy bars, and bottled water.
💼 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐠 – Strong, waterproof, and easy to carry. Your go-bag should be ready to grab and go at a moment’s notice.
💡 𝐓𝐢𝐩: Customize your go-bag based on your needs—add prescription medicine, baby supplies, sanitary kits, or extra clothes as necessary. Store it in an accessible place and check it every few months for expired items.
