🚩Kung nanghihingi emloyer nyo / o ng VA couch nyo ng pera in exchange of task malamang sa malamang malaking red flag yan.
Here are practical tips to avoid scams as a Virtual Assistant 👇
1. Research the client or company
Always Google their name, website, and email address.
Check for reviews on Facebook groups, LinkedIn, or Glassdoor.
Be cautious if they have no online presence or use a generic Gmail/Yahoo email for business.
2. Never pay to get hired
Legit clients never ask you to pay for training, software, or registration fees.
If they say you’ll get “reimbursed later,” it’s a red flag .
3. Use a proper contract
Always have a contract or written agreement before starting work.
Include: Your pay rate
Payment schedule (weekly, biweekly, monthly)
Work scope and deadlines
Method of payment (PayPal, Wise, etc.)
4. Request upfront payment for new clients
For first-time clients, ask for 50% upfront or weekly payments until trust is built.
Avoid working “for free” on “trial projects” unless it’s just a small paid test task.
5. Use trusted job platforms
Apply through Upwork, OnlineJobs.ph, Fiverr, or LinkedIn they offer more protection.
Avoid jobs that only use Telegram, WhatsApp, or Facebook Messenger for interviews and never give full personal info right away.
6. Protect your personal info
Don’t share your IDs, bank info, or passwords until you’ve verified the client.
7. Watch out for these red flags
“We’ll send you a check to buy your work equipment.” (Fake check scam)
“You’ll get paid after training.” (No payment ever comes)
“We communicate only via Telegram/WhatsApp.” (Avoid if no video or legit company proof)
