In a matter of seconds, a completely normal day of team bonding turned into an unimaginable tragedy. Standing side-by-side with their teammates in what felt like safe, shallow water, Rene and Divine were caught in a cruel twist of nature when a hidden underwater drop-off and a sudden, powerful undercurrent pulled them away from the group. Despite being elite, strong athletes with a lifetime of bright moments ahead of them, the ocean's force was simply too fast and too powerful to fight. It is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly life can change, leaving a team, their families, and an entire community mourning two incredible souls taken far too soon. Rest in peace.
