Subaru Is Bringing Back the STI And It’s a Hatchback!
Subaru has officially reignited the STI flame at the Tokyo Auto Show with two new performance concepts: the Performance E STI and the Performance B STI. And while both look incredible, it’s the B Concept that has enthusiasts talking.
Unlike the typical “concept” teasers we’ve seen before, this one feels real because it practically is. Subaru insiders suggest that the Performance B STI isn’t just a design study, but a near-production model expected to hit the streets very soon as in, before the week’s out.
The car sports aggressive factory aero straight from the motorsport playbook, and even better, it marks the long-awaited return of the STI hatchback. Fans have been begging Subaru to bring back the wide-bodied, turbocharged hot hatch magic of the past, and it seems like that wish is finally being granted.
Subaru hasn’t confirmed what’s under the hood just yet, but if the FA24 engine from the current WRX is any indication, we’re looking at a serious contender with plenty of tuning potential and that signature Subaru character, symmetrical AWD, turbocharged punch, and rally-inspired performance.
We’ll be watching closely for more details as they break. But one thing’s certain: the STI spirit is back, and it looks sharper, meaner, and more exciting than ever.
