the Truth (Spoiler Alert‼️)

The ending of Squid Game delivers a powerful rebuttal to the Frontman's cynical belief that humans are inherently selfish. Gi-hun’s choices in the final moments demonstrate that compassion can survive even in a system designed to erase it. His refusal to board the plane and his haunting final words—“We are not horses, we are humans. Humans are…”—serve as a poignant conclusion. But it’s also intentionally unfinished.

Horses are instinct-driven creatures—used in war, gambling, and labor. They run because they must. In contrast, Squid Game is a brutal allegory for a world where people are reduced to instinct by desperation. Gi-hun’s unfinished sentence asks a deeper question: Are we more than just instinct? The series suggests yes—but doesn’t let us off the hook.

Despite moments of kindness and selflessness, Gi-hun has also witnessed the worst of humanity—greed, cowardice, sa**sm, betrayal. Those who created the games were human. So were those who killed to survive. The term "humanity" often evokes compassion and morality, but this ending asks: What does it really mean to be human?

Gi-hun’s silence leaves that answer open. It reflects a truth the series embraces: humanity is neither wholly good nor entirely evil. It simply is. That ambiguity is the show's most honest insight
