House leaders emphasized the importance of electing officials who uphold human rights during the resumption of the House Committee on Human Rights investigation into extrajudicial killings (EJKs) under the Duterte administration's war on drugs on Tuesday, June 25.

Antipolo City 2nd District Rep. Romeo Acop highlighted the role of democracy in electing leaders and their subsequent policy implementations, noting that the Dutertes are set to run for the Senate in the 2025 elections.

House Committee on Human Rights Chairperson and Manila 6th District Rep. Bienvenido Abante Jr. urged voters to elect politicians who respect human rights and believe in due process. Abante stressed the importance of compassion and the fundamental rights of all Filipinos, regardless of their circumstances.

Vice President Sara Duterte confirmed that former President Rodrigo Duterte, Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte, and Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte are preparing to run for the Senate in the 2025 elections.
