I tried searching his name in FB but it looks like his account has already been deactivated. However I came across a photo of him and it seems he came from a decent and loving family. He is clearly still very new to the industry and having just joined the vessel when it happened. Initially, He mentioned that he was merely following orders and had no knowledge of the situation and had no choice but to comply especially given that the rest of the crew on board were reportedly involved. Refusing could have meant serious consequences considering the operation was tied to a major drug cartel.

In the pursuit video, I believed it was him communicating with the navy- his accent sounded distinctly like that of a young Filipino yet he is very articulate. Later on I realized that he was actually the 2nd officer of the vessel. He was a graduate of Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific.

He was sentenced to 18 years in jail. A life that had barely begun is paused for nearly two decades. 💔
