MY thoughts came to this as I was thinking over the last year of the horrible Israel-Hamas war and, more recently, the advances China is making in artificial intelligence (AI), which were highlighted by a long video on CNBC released on YouTube on Jan. 25, "How China's new AI model DeepSeek is threatening US dominance," and an article published on Jan. 23 in The Economist, "Chinese AI is catching up, posing a dilemma for Donald Trump," plus many more since. The discussion on the capital-heavy Silicon Valley AI model and the capital-efficient DeepSeek and Chinese alternative has only intensified since.
