⚡️ ISU will add semi-finals to the figure skating Grand Prix series from the 2027/28 season

"Starting from the 2027/28 season, we are introducing new calendars for three seasons ahead – 2027/28, 2028/29 and 2029/30. The goal is clear: to create more opportunities for our sport.
We need to create heroes – our athletes, ensure their visibility and more often pit the best against each other in a competitive environment. We also want to give more ISU members the opportunity to host competitions – we can see how this becomes a catalyst for the development of sport in a country.
As part of the changes, the World Short Track Speed Skating Tour will visit Shanghai for the first time this year, and two additional stages will be added in the 2027/28 season. In Canada, the competitions will move to the Coliseum – a larger and more modern arena. The 2027/28 season will also introduce a new model of the Grand Prix series [in figure skating] with two semi-finals," said Smith.
