BIR Staff Under Fire After TikToker Cries Over Alleged Disrespect — Video Picked Up by 8List.ph
A TikTok user’s tearful story about her unpleasant experience at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Novaliches office has gone viral, prompting outrage among netizens and renewed calls for professionalism in public service.
According to the woman, she personally went to the BIR Revenue District Office to process her Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) after encountering issues with the online application. Instead of being assisted, she said the employee appeared “irritated” and “sarcastic” when she asked questions and sought clarification.
“Nangangailangan ng tulong ‘yung tao. Pare-pareho tayong tao dito,” she said through tears in her viral video.
In a follow-up clip, the TikToker explained that the staff member spoke in English throughout their conversation, seemingly to belittle her.
“All throughout the conversation, nag-e-English talaga siya, na parang gusto niyang ipamukha sa’kin na dapat kong maintindihan lahat,” she said. “Sobrang impatient at sarcastic niya—paulit-ulit nga daw siya pero ako pa ‘yung lumabas na bobo.”
When she confronted the employee about the disrespectful tone, the situation escalated.
“Ayun, tumaas talaga ‘yung boses niya. Sabi pa niya, wala daw akong karapatan para sabihin ‘yun sa kanya,” she recalled.
The incident took an emotional toll on her, pushing her to tears and leading her to post a call for accountability and change.
The viral video, which was also picked up and featured by lifestyle platform 8List.ph, sparked massive discussion online. Many netizens shared their own experiences with rude government workers and expressed sympathy for the woman.
“Sa BIR din dito sa amin, ipinahiya ako ng staff. Wala akong nagawa kundi umiyak,” one commenter said. Another added, “I feel your frustration. Wala kang mali. Normalize holding government employees accountable for how they treat people.”
