π—”π——π—©π—œπ—¦π—’π—₯𝗬 | Due to inclement weather brought about by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Cyclone Dolphin, classes at the PUP Sta. Mesa Campus will shift to Alternative Delivery Mode (synchronous or asynchronous) tomorrow, August 10.

Meanwhile, the implementation of class and work arrangements in other PUP campuses and academic extension programs shall be based on the advisories issued by their respective Local Government Units (LGUs).

In the spirit of an autonomous and militant campus press, the 2026 Editorial Examination of PUP Campus Journalists has officially commenced.

Qualified members of the publication who aspire to serve on the Editorial Board for A.Y. 2026–2027 will undergo a series of assessments in accordance with the publication's Constitution.

At a time when pressing sociopolitical issues continue to confront our communities, the need for principled student publication leaders has never been greater.

Further updates on the 2026 PUP Campus Journalists By-Election and Selection Process will be announced in due course.

Papet, pasista, korap at pahirap ang hatol ng masang api sa rehimeng Marcos. Kabilang sa mga pangunahing isyung kanilang iginiit ang kawalan ng pananagutan ng mga tiwaling pulitiko, mababang sahod at kontraktwalisasyon sa hanay ng mga manggagawa, pagpapakatuta ng administrasyon sa Estados Unidos, at patuloy na panggigipit sa mga batayang karapatan ng mamamayan.

Samantala, kaliwa't kanang pag aresto ng kapulisan sa mga kabataan, mamamayan at magsasakang lumahok sa SONA ng Bayan ang naitala sa parehong araw. Mariing kinundena ng mga multisektoral na grupo ang anila'y lantarang paglabag sa karapatan ng mga aktibista na magprotesta.

π—Ÿπ—’π—’π—ž | Opening his with the flood control controversy, President Marcos Jr. announced that the Office of the Ombudsman is set to file multiple cases against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

"Lahat ng kailangang gawin ay ginawa natin upang matunton ang puno't dulo... Masakit man sa akin ito, ngunit kailangan nating gawin ang tama," Marcos said.

He added, "Hindi ako Pangulo ng aking pamilya. Hindi ako Pangulo ng aking kaibigan. Ako ay Pangulo ng Pilipinas at ang tungkulin ko ay sa inyo, mga kapuwa ko Pilipino."

Marcos stressed that his administration's anti-corruption efforts would apply regardless of personal ties, including Romualdez, who is his cousin.

After the SONA, Romualdez released a statement saying that while the President's remarks were personally painful, he respects his position.

"Sang-ayon ako na gawin ang tama. Ang tama ay ang sumunod sa proseso at hayaan ang ebidensya ang magsalita. Naninindigan akong wala akong ginawang anumang labag sa batas. At handa akong patunayan ito," Romualdez said.

π—Ÿπ—’π—’π—ž | Five members of the Senate minority bloc will skip President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) today.

Senators Imee Marcos, Alan Peter Cayetano, Pia Cayetano, Loren Legarda, and Robin Padilla said they would not attend the annual address in protest over the detention of Senators Rodante Marcoleta and Jinggoy Estrada.

The planned boycott comes after Senators Marcos, the Cayetano siblings, and Legarda wore black during the opening of the second regular session of the 20th Congress to symbolize their opposition.

Despite skipping the SONA, the senators said they would still watch the President’s speech via the live broadcast.

Meanwhile, Alan Peter Cayetano announced on Sunday that he would deliver the minority bloc’s Kontra SONA tomorrow, a parliamentary tradition in the Senate where minority lawmakers respond to the President’s address.

π—§π—œπ—‘π—šπ—‘π—”π—‘ | Humigit-kumulang 40 kabataan mula sa Hiphop United, Vandals United at Anakbayan Pasong Tamo ang inaresto ng kapulisan habang nagsasagawa ng protesta sa Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City para sa State of the Nation Address (SONA) ngayong araw.

Saad ng pangulo ng Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) na si Renato Reyes Jr., wala silang nakukuhang impormasyon kung sino-sino ang mga inaresto at ang dahilan ng pag-aresto sa kanila.

β€œNapakasama ng ginagawa nilang procedure ngayong araw. Hindi katanggap-tanggap. Mariin naming kinokondena at tinututulan. Ilabas niyo [ang] aming mga kasamahan na inyong inaresto. Ilabas niyo ang mga pangalan [at] anong kaso ang isasampa ninyo sa kanila,” ani Reyes.

Ayon sa ulat ng Altermidya, matapos arestuhin ang ilan sa mga raliyista ay isinakay sila sa isang bus ng BJMP, sa kabila ng pagharang ng ilang mga lider sa kanilang pag-aresto.

Habang isinusulat ito ay wala pang pormal na pahayag ang kapulisan kung ano ang malinaw na dahilan sa pag-aresto sa mga raliyista.
