Federation of Filipino-Chinese Amity Club marked history with a photo exhibit titled Remember History, Cherish Peace at the University of the Cordilleras Theater on Saturday, August 2, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. 🇵🇭✨
The milestone also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the national Fil-Chinese Amity Club and the 30th anniversary of its Baguio Chapter, honoring decades of friendship, remembrance, and service. 🎉🤝
The program began with a ribbon cutting by 20 members of the Baguio Chapter, followed by opening remarks from Mr. Mariano Chua, FCACI National President. Messages of remembrance and support were delivered by Dr. Ray Dean D. Salvosa (University of the Cordilleras), historian Mr. Muller Bato, Mrs. Teresa B. Pomar (sons and daughters of WWII veterans), and government leaders including Congressman Mauricio Domogan, Governor Melchor Diclas, and Mayor Benjamin Magalong. 🙌🕊️
Beyond commemoration, the event became a gesture of service — with donations of school supplies, food packs, medical equipment, home kits for the visually impaired, a wheelchair, and a motorcycle for the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) to support the community. 🎁❤️
Closing the celebration, Mr. Fernando Tiong, President of FCAI-Baguio Chapter, expressed gratitude to all partners and guests for keeping history alive while advocating peace and unity for generations to come. 🌏🙏
The exhibit reminded all in attendance that while WWII’s atrocities must never be forgotten, the future must be built on reconciliation, service, and a shared vow that war must never again be the answer. 🕊️🌸
