Kitty Duterte asserts that her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, is being held illegally, claiming that no warrant of arrest was presented to him when they arrived from Hong Kong on Tuesday morning.

In an Instagram Story, Kitty posted a photo of her father with the caption that read, "ILLEGAL DETENTION. NO WARRANT OF ARREST."

Contrary to her claim, the Presidential Communications Office stated that the Philippine National Police served the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, where former President Duterte faces charges of crimes against humanity for his involvement in the extrajudicial killings during his administration. ‘IT IS AN ILLEGAL ARREST’

Former presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo slammed the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte, calling it an “unlawful” on Tuesday.

Malacañang confirmed the arrest of Duterte after the INTERPOL Manila received the official copy of the warrant of arrest from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“It is an illegal arrest because the ICC arrest warrant comes from a spurious source, the ICC, which has no jurisdiction over the Philippines. The government action will make the arresting team as well as the public officials ordering the arrest criminally liable,” he said.
