In line with the national call for maritime sovereignty, Hadji Butu School of Arts and Trades launched its official entry to the West Philippine Sea National Mural Painting activity. Drawing from the Tausug pride, the LukiSM artists utilized the intricate patterns of Sulu heritage to transform a public wall into a bold declaration of ownership and national pride. This mural serves as a visual bridge between the cultural identity of the Bangsa Sug and the collective defense of Philippine territory, proving that grassroots art is a powerful force for resilience and regional solidarity.
โThe schoolโs participation was made possible by the Vocational School Superintendent II, Rosema G. Lukman, whose administrative support paved the way for these local artists to showcase their talents on this national competition. Under the guidance of Al-fahad E. Jadjuli, Director for Planning, Research, and Development, the team successfully channeled their creativity into a cohesive message of unity and strength. By merging traditional heritage with contemporary activism, the HBSAT community has affirmed that every stroke of the brush strengthens the nationโs voice in claiming what is rightfully Filipino.
