Childhood cancer is not rare. It is not okay. And it is far too often invisible.

A 13-year-old should be laughing with friends, playing soccer, or enjoying birthday parties. Instead, they are clenching in pain, lying in hospital beds, waiting for lab results, and fighting for survival. Treatments meant to save them can leave lasting scars—heart damage, cognitive struggles, infertility. Parents hold back tears. Siblings cry quietly. Families endure sleepless nights filled with fear and uncertainty.

Yet, amidst the pain, children show courage beyond their years. They face surgeries, needles, and treatments with quiet resilience. They smile even when exhausted, reminding us what true strength looks like.

But courage alone is not enough. Only 4% of federal cancer research funding in the U.S. goes to childhood cancers—far too little to give these kids the treatments they deserve. Every child deserves more than 4%. They deserve hope, futures, and a life full and unbroken.

We cannot turn away. We cannot accept this as “just how it is.” They need us to raise our voices, demand change, and fight for better care.

A 375-pound black bear, sedated and panicked, fell into the icy water and began to sink. The crowd onshore froze—no one dared to jump in.

That’s when Ivan, a passerby, stripped off his shirt and dove. Fighting the current, he lifted the bear’s heavy head above the surface, whispering “calm” as he struggled toward shore.

With help from others, the bear was finally pulled to safety. Hours later, it was released back into the wild—alive because one man chose to risk everything.

When asked why, Ivan simply said: “A man’s strength is measured by who he chooses to protect—even if it has claws.”

The image of him rescuing the drowning bear has since become a symbol of courage and compassion.

Today we finally have some encouraging news.
Branson’s white blood cells jumped from 5,000 to 8,000 in just one day, and most are neutrophils—the very cells that fight infection. Even more incredible, his adenovirus count dropped from over 5 million to 800,000. That is a massive step forward and a glimmer of hope we’ve been praying for.

But behind the numbers, reality is still heartbreaking. Branson is exhausted, his body pushed to the edge. His hair is gone again, and now his eyelashes and eyebrows are falling out too. Watching him suffer like this is gut-wrenching, and as parents we feel helpless.

We are clinging to faith, believing that even in this darkest stretch, a comeback is possible. Please keep Branson in your prayers—the fight is far from over, and your love and support are carrying us through.
