𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈 | The Office of the Student Regent (OSR) of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) has officially requested to the University Administration to declare a system-wide health break and implement alternative learning measures from October 15 to 19, 2025. The request comes as students and faculty continue to face disruptions caused by a series of earthquakes, the spread of flu cases, and ongoing public transportation strikes.

Similarly, the Sentro Konseho ng Mag-aaral (SKM) submitted an urgent request for the suspension of all academic activities for one week to allow students to rest, recover, and regain focus. The request also seeks the postponement of all examinations and deadlines until after the break, the assurance that no grade deductions will be imposed for late submissions during the period, and the recognition of excused absences for those affected by illness or emergencies. In addition, it calls for the immediate availability of medical support and assistance for students in need.

𝗜𝗖𝗬𝗠𝗜: 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀’ 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵

Yesterday, October 13, the Iskolar ng Bayan National Network of Agrarian Reform Advocates–Youth (NNARA–Youth) PUP Chapter led a local mobilization to honor and defend the rights of farmers and agricultural workers in line with the observance of Peasants’ Month.

The youth collective raised urgent demands to end militarization in the countryside, uphold genuine land reform, strengthen local food production, ensure living wages, and make essential goods accessible to all.

At the heart of this movement lies a powerful truth: the farmers who feed the nation remain among the most exploited and forgotten. Despite their labor sustaining millions, they continue to endure low wages, landlessness, and government neglect. Clear evidence of a system that values profit over people.

𝐏𝐔𝐏 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐎𝐔𝐓: 𝐓𝐀𝐌𝐀 𝐍𝐀! 𝐒𝐎𝐁𝐑𝐀 𝐍𝐀! 𝐏𝐔𝐏 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐍𝐀!

Ngayong araw, Oktubre 10, 2025, nagtipon-tipon ang mga mag-aaral mula sa CSSD, iba’t ibang kolehiyo, at mga satellite campuses para sa community-wide walkout laban sa korapsyon. Tinatayang umabot sa 15,000 estudyante ang nakiisa sa protesta na layong ipanawagan ang pananagutan at katiwalian sa iba’t ibang antas ng pamahalaan.

Sinimulan ang programa bandang alas-diyes ng umaga, kung saan nakapuwesto ang hanay ng CSSD sa ikalawang palapag ng Main Building. Ilang student leader ang nagsalita upang ipahayag ang kanilang mga panawagan, kabilang ang pagtataas ng pondo para sa pamantasan at pagpapanagot sa mga tiwaling opisyal.

Pagkatapos nito ay sama-sama ng nagtipon papuntang University Avenue ang iba’t ibang kolehiyo kung saan din ginanap ang pangunahing programa. Rito ay nagsalita ang mga kinakatawan ng iba’t ibang mga organisasyon, gayon din ang g**o at manggagawa na nakilahok sa talakayan.

Bagama’t bumuhos ang malakas na ulan bandang alas-dose ng tanghali, nagpatuloy pa rin ang programa. Ayon kay President Manuel Muhi ang nasabing walkout ay isang makabuluhang pagpapahayag ng komunidad ng PUP upang ipakita sa sambayanan ang mariing pagkondena sa maling paggamit ng pondo ng bayan.

Binanggit din niya ang kahalagahan ng transparency at accountability, kung saan dapat mapanagot ang mga sangkot sa anumang katiwalian. Dagdag pa niya, bilang isang malaking institusyon, tungkulin ng komunidad ng PUP na magkaisa sa panawagang ilaan ang pondo ng bayan sa mga pampublikong pamantasan, lalo na’t malinaw ang pangangailangan ng mga ito, sa halip na mapunta ito sa katiwalian.

Dagdag pa ni CPSPA Secretary General Wellysa Torne, apektado ang PUP ng malakihang budget cut, habang patuloy umanong ninanakaw ng gobyerno ang pondo ng mamamayan.

"Hindi ito ang huling pagkilos, sapagkat magpapatuloy ang panawagan laban sa katiwalian at korupsiyon" giit pa ni Torne kasabay ng anunsyo ng posibilidad na pagsasagawa ng mga educational discussions sa mga susunod na araw upang mas mapalalim ang kamalayan ng mga estudyante hinggil sa isyu.

Samantala, si Makmak, miyembro ng Kabataan Partylist PUP, ay nagpahayag ng pakikiisa sa mga Iskolar ng Bayan sa kanilang panawagang kalampagin ang gobyerno sa mga maling ginagawa nito, isang paninindigang mariing tinututulan ng mga estudyante ng pamantasan.

Ipinahayag din ni Tiffany Faith Brillante, Pangulo ng Sentral na Konseho ng Mag-aaral, ang galit ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan laban sa korapsyon at kawalan ng pananagutan ng administrasyong Marcos Jr. Nanawagan din siya na wakasan ang sistemang ugat ng katiwalian at panagutin ang mga nasa kapangyarihan. Dagdag pa niya, magpapatuloy ang pagkilos at mga protesta ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan hangga’t walang napapanagot sa mga gawaing katiwalian sa bansa.

Bagaman nagtapos ang programa, hindi rito nagwawakas ang panawagan laban sa katiwalian at korupsyon. Umulan man o umaraw, patuloy na ipaglalaban ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan ang kanilang tinig laban sa mga katiwalian.

𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 | Patuloy pa rin ang pag-ulan sa University Ave. ngunit hindi nagpatinag ang mga iskolar ng bayan mula sa iba't ibang kolehiyo bitbit pa rin ang kanilang mga placard at patuloy na bumoboses sa kanilang mga panawagan sa pangunguna ng mga representative mula sa mga partido at organisasyon.

𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐓 | Nakatanggap ng subpoena si AKM Chairperson Jacob Vergara Baluyot kaugnay sa nangyaring mobilization noong September 21 kung saan nagkaroon ng kilos-protesta laban sa katiwalian kasabay ng paggunit ng ika-53 na anibersaryo ng Martial Law. Matatandaan na maraming estudiyante mula sa iba't ibang paaralan ang dinakip kung saan kabilang na ang isang estudyante mula sa PUP.

Kahapon rin ay may naganap na press conference ang PNP kung saan kanila’y nabanggit ang pagpapadala ng mga subpoena sa mga lider at nakilahok sa nasabing kilos-protesta.

𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈 | On October 2, 2025, the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected Executive Board of the PUP Economics Research Society took place in the office of the Chairperson of the Department of Economics.

The event began with a brief introduction of each candidate, during which they recited their oaths and received their awarding certificates. The Chairperson of the Department of Economics delivered a speech, expressing gratitude to the elected officers for their participation in the election.

Following this, the elected president shared his words and remarks. The event concluded with a speech from the secretary general of the PUP EconRes COMELEC, who provided the closing remarks.
