𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | Catch a glimpse of what went down during the recently concluded term ender! The event served as a chance to reflect and celebrate this year’s milestones. It also served as a platform to officially launch this year’s magazine entitled “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐬, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞.” Lastly, the event gave recognition to the outstanding efforts of its excellent members, awarding and honoring those who went above and beyond in service, creativity, and dedication.

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event a success. Here’s to a year well-tied.

We proudly launch our latest magazine, 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕: 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎 𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒔, 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝑼𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆 — a compelling issue that discuss the ties that bind us to injustice, spectacle politics, and inequality.

This year’s issue dives into the BUHOL — the political knots that bind and suffocate. It follows the quiet but persistent unraveling, the PAGKALAG, where chants, movements, and everyday resistance slowly loosen the grip of oppression. And finally, we ask: after the loosening, what comes next? Is there PAG-ASA — a hope that doesn’t ignore the struggle but rises from within it?

This issue speaks of the struggles we’ve grown used to—systems that tighten around us in silence. From the rising cost of living to inaccessible education and unjust wages, these economic realities are no accident; they are deliberate designs meant to keep people bound and powerless. But through every story told, we begin to see the threads. And slowly, we begin to pull.

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has vetoed the National Polytechnic University (NPU) Bill, Malacañang confirmed in a live press briefing held today, Friday morning.

The Palace cited the University's failure to meet reassessment requirements as the main reason for the veto. However, it assured that national status may still be granted once all conditions are fulfilled.

Originally passed in May 2024 under Senate Bill No. 2669 and House Bill No. 11341, the NPU Bill sought to revise the charter of PUP. The measure was sponsored by Senators Francis Escudero, Juan Miguel Zubiri, JV Ejercito, Win Gatchalian, and Sonny Angara.

[ 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣𝗦 ] : On July 4, two student-led events unfolded across the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, each offering a space to reflect on issues of gender, identity, and social systems. At the College of Communication, Broadcast Communication students held KaSari-Sarian: Gender Equality Creativity Festival 2025, while Economics students from the Main Building presented Intersextion, the culminating activity of their Gender and Development Festival.

Organized by third-year students under the course Media & Gender, KaSari-Sarian invited fellow students into a creative and critical dialogue on gender, identity, and social justice. Through interactive booths like “You Tell Me: Gender for Reelz,” “Power Strike,” and “Dress to Express,” participants explored issues such as gender roles, power dynamics, and self-expression in engaging and accessible ways.

Meanwhile, students from the Bachelor of Science in Economics (BSE) 3-1, 3-2, and 3-3 mounted Intersextion in PUP Main Building, with their own set of booths and activities focused on the intersection of gender and economic systems in Asia countries. The collaboration between the two colleges underscored how different disciplines can complement each other in exploring complex social issues.

Originally planned as a two-day event, the celebration pushed through on its second day after class suspensions due to inclement weather. Still, both KaSari-Sarian and Intersextion made strong use of the single day, turning academic projects into meaningful platforms for student expression and awareness.

The event demonstrated the growing efforts within PUP to build inclusive spaces where students are not only informed, but also empowered to take part in conversations that matter.
