Another day, another dam!

I took advantage of the traffic-free holiday to visit two irrigation dams in Cavite I've never been to before: Menes Dam in Brgy. San Francisco and Igme Dam in Brgy. Santiago, both in General Trias.

Menes Dam, the higher of the two, is located between Phase I and II of Savanna Fields Subd. by Futura Homes. It dams a tributary of the Ylang-Ylang River and once provided irrigation to the rice fields in the area that have since been converted into subdivisions. This was harder to reach because of the security in the subdivision and because of the tall concrete fences blocking the riverside. I think a bridge with a four-lane access road is being built nearby, connecting the Diversion Road in Brgy. San Jose, Dasmariñas and Mayor's Drive in Brgy. Santiago, Gen. Trias.

Igme Dam, the smaller of the two, but with a larger reservoir, is located inside Bella Vista Subd. just a few meters from the Bella Vista Club House. I thought this would be harder to reach, but this one is more straightforward. There are no fences. Instead, the dam has been made part of the public club house grounds.

These two dams are a testament to the increasing land conversion in Cavite where food security is increasingly being taken for granted in exchange for midrange and low-cost housing developments.

Yesterday, I added two new dams to my list of Cavite irrigation dams that I've biked to: Pasong Kastila Dam and Hari Dam in General Trias.

Pasong Kastila Dam along the Ylang-Ylang River is located behind Elliston Place Subdivision, near the CALAX Open Canal Road Bridge that's being constructed. It was built during the Spanish colonial era with some recent modern renovations.

Hari Dam is located at the back of Liora Homes, also near the CALAX alignment. It's a small irrigation that used to provide water to farmlands in Brgy. Pasong Camachile I.

Finally! The search is over!

I was finally able to reach Ragatan Dam, a small irrigation reservoir in Brgy. Anabu II-A, Imus, Cavite, after searching for it since August last year!

It's a place known for shooting catfish among locals, aside from providing irrigation to the surrounding farms. It will soon become part of the Vermosa Estate. A newly constructed access road around the dam enabled me to reach it.

Chinese New Year bike ride sa Vermosa! Daming tao at binalikan ko uli ang sapa, this time may dala nang upuan. Merienda ng biskwit at tubig sa tabing sapa. Syempre ugaliin natin na iwang malinis ang lugar na pinagkainan at huwag magtapon ng basura sa sapa.
