Expanding their ranks of strategic thinkers and masters of the 8x8 battlefield, the Mapúa University Chess Team is opening its doors to passionate woodpushers, with tryouts set for July 18, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the Mapúa University Intramuros campus.

UPDATE: In line with the scheduled Annual Preventive Maintenance of the Power Center, Mapúa University has announced that all classes will be held online on July 5 for Intramuros-based classes.

ADVISORY: Mapúa University will be conducting its annual Preventive Maintenance of Power Center at the Intramuros Campus on July 5, 7:00 AM to July 6, 9:00 PM. During this time, power supply throughout the campus will be shut off, and generators will not be operational to ensure the safety of personnel.

Moreover, students and employees are advised to disconnect all electronic and electrical devices and equipment prior to leaving the campus on July 4.

ADVISORY: The Treasury Department of the University has released an announcement regarding the reinstatement of the 1% Late Tuition Payment Penalty starting the 3rd Trimester A.Y. 2024-2025.

Effective August 2, 2025, a 1% penalty per month will be charged on all outstanding balances including pre-pandemic back accounts. In the meantime, penalty charges for all outstanding balances from 2020 up to the end of the 2nd Trimester A.Y. 2024-2025 have been waived.

The said policy was temporarily suspended as a financial relief during the COVID-19 pandemic and is now reimplemented as the University has returned to its normal operations.

BACK-TO-BACK 🎮🧹

Marking their Esports Kick-off debut with consecutive 2-0 sweeps, the Mapúa Gaming Society, representing the Mapúa University (MU) Cardinals, thrashed the San Beda University Red Lions and the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals in back-to-back fashion in their Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Tournament matches last June 28 and 29.

Demonstrating unmatched prowess in the Land of Dawn, MU’s jungler, JM Ocampo, playing F***y in Game 1, and midlaner, Rafael Benipayo, playing Zhuxin in Game 2, earned the Most Valuable Player awards for their commanding performances.

Sharpening their tactics and adapting to the meta, the Cardinals set their wings to conquer their next games this coming July 12 and 13.

Displaying indomitable grit and indelible spirit, the Mapúa University Men’s Volleyball Team (MU MVT) concluded their Men's Volleyball Tournament campaign with a fourth-place finish in their battle for bronze match against the De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde Blazers, 24-26, 25-8, 20-25, 23-25, last June 11 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

Through consistent performances on the taraflex, MU MVT Captain Barbie San Andres claimed the 2nd Best Spiker Award during the awarding ceremony held on the same day at the same venue.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) dives into the realm of esports as it launches the Esports Kick-off with a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament today, June 28.

Organized by the Collegiate Center for Esports, ten competing schools—divided into two brackets with five teams each—will clash in a round-robin matchup scheduled for today, June 29, July 12, and July 13. The top six teams will advance to the finals, which will be held at the Philippine Game Dev Expo 2025 at the SMX Convention Center from July 25 to 27.

The Mapúa delegation comprises members of the Mapúa Gaming Society. They are set to face the San Beda Red Lions later today at 1:00 PM, and the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals tomorrow at 5:00 PM.
