Next in the series is Partido Manggagawa Spokesperskon, Wilson Fortaleza, saying:

“No one should be arrested and detained for anything related to trade union work. For there is none in trade union work that constitutes a crime as this activity is covered by all the legalities guaranteed by the constitution and international conventions. It is the rampant violation of these rights that should be criminalized.”

Ang sinimulan sa Maginhawa, naging ginhawa na sa libu-libo nating mga kababayan sa buong bansa.

Matapos ang isang buwan ng pagsisimula ng sa Maginhawa, Quezon City, malawakang lumaganap ang diwa ng pagtutulungan, pagdadamayan at pagbabayanihan sa ating mga mamamayang lubos na nangangailangan dahil sa matinding epekto ng pandemya sa usapin ng kagutuman ng ating mga kapwa Pilipino.

Ipinapaabot ng Defend Jobs Philippines ang aming pinakamataas na pagpupugay sa lahat ng mga indibidwal at mga organisasyong tumugon sa panawagan ng kilusan laban sa kagutuman na pinasimulan ni Ana Patricia Non sa pamamagitan ng mga Community Pantry. Sa kabila ng mga banta, pananakot, pagod at kahirapang kaakibat ng pagtatayo ng mga community pantries ay patuloy tayong naniwala at nanindigan para sa makabuluhang adhikaing ito.

Sa bahagi ng Matimyas Workers Community Pantry ng aming grupo sa Sampaloc, Maynila ay nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng tumatangkilik, nagtataguyod at sumusuporta sa ating workers pantry na nagdiriwang ng ating unang monthsarry ngayong araw.

Patuloy pong tumatanggap ang aming opisina ng mga suportang in-kind at monetary donations para sa daan-daan nating mga benepisyaryo sa Sampaloc, Maynila kada araw.

This coming International Labor Day on May 1, 2021, Defend Jobs Philippines strongly reiterates our demand for the government of President Rodrigo Duterte to immediately release our trade union organizer, Dennise Velasco, along with other trade unionists detained under fabricated search and arrest warrants and fake evidences.

Velaso is part of the “Human Rights Day 7,” who were arrested on December 10, 2020 including Mark Ryan Cruz, Romina Astudillo, Jaymie Gregorio, Jr, Joel Demate and released labor organizer, Rodrigo Esparago and journalist, Lady Ann Salem.

Velasco and all other detained unionists and activists must be sent out of jail as their labor and human rights works were not criminal nor terrorist acts. Serving the Filipino workers and people must not be criminalized and those working for better and fair working conditions of the labor sector must not be prosecuted and arrested.

We call on the Duterte government to take its hands-off our Filipino trade unionists and activists. The State must also stop its scheme of filing trumped-up charges, planting of evidences, illegal arrests and detention.
