BREAKING: In response to the government's push for jeepney modernization, transport groups declared their plans for a week-long strike starting this incoming March 6.

More than 40,000 jeepneys and utility vehicles are expected to join the transport strike in Metro Manila and other provinces in the country.

With the continuous oil price hikes, the transport sector has long called for aid and reforms; despite this, the government still chooses to railroad anti-transport programs and policies.

This is a developing story.

NEWS ALERT | Ipinasa sa Committee on Constitutional Amendment ng Kongreso ang Constitutional Convention (ConCon) Bill ngayong araw, Pebrero 27, 2023. Layon ng bill na ito na amendahan ang Saligang Batas na ipinagtibay noong 1987. Labimpitong mambabatas ang bumotong pabor, habang dalawa naman ang hindi pabor, at walang nag-abstain sa pagpasa nito.

Ipatutupad ang ConCon sa Nobyembre 2023 kung saan magkakaron ng 300 delegado at ang Senate President at Speaker of the House ay mayroong kapangyarihang magtalaga ng 20%. Ayon sa Gabriela Partylist, ang bawat delegado ay makatatanggap ng suweldong Php 10,000 sa loob ng pitong buwan.

KAHAPON: Nagtipon-tipon ang mga progresibong grupo at organisasyong masa sa harap ng People Power Monument upang gunitain ang ika-37 na anibersaryo ng EDSA Revolution na nagpatalsik sa diktador na si Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Sa kasalukuyang pagbalik ng pamilyang Marcos sa Malacañang, kinukundena rin ng mga aktibista ang kawalang kakayahan at kawalang-kilos ng naghaharing administrasyon sa gitna ng tumataas na inflation at presyo at krisis-panlipunan sa iba't ibang sektor katulad ng edukasyon o kalusugan.

BREAKING: Mark Mykel Villano and Carissa Rapsing, KASAMA Volunteer Corps committee heads of the 49th College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Student Council, have officially ascended to the rank of Executive Committee after a General Assembly conducted earlier this evening.

Villano and Rapsing helm the Health and Environment (H&E) and National and Local Solidarity (NatLoc) Committees, respectively.

Notably, the CASSC adopted to release a written resolution for formality on their decision to not ascend GSTRAW Comm Head Roseth Cacacho, given the latter's absence during the process due to technical difficulties. Education and Research (EdRes) Head Chelsy Claire Perez also did not ascend to ExeComm.

ANUNSYO | Following the recent clarifications made by the Malacañan, the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) retracts its first statement on the suspension of classes on February 25, 2023, Saturday.

The UPM USC, however, will file an appeal for reconsideration in light of maximizing participation in the activities set to commemorate the EDSA People Power Revolution.

NGAYON: Nagtipon-tipon ang iba't ibang progresibong grupo sa tapat ng Vinzon's Hall sa UP Diliman kung saan ginaganap ang mobilization ngayong araw. Ang kilos-protesta ay isinasagawa bilang pag-alala sa anibersaryo ng pagkamatay ng New Bataan 5 sa kamay ng 10th Infantry Division ng AFP.

Matapos ang isang taon, hindi pa rin nakakamit ang hustisya at nananatiling nakararanas ang mga pambansang minorya ng red-tagging, militarisasyon at karahasan sa ilalim ng estado. Isa na rito ang FLED 14 na binubuo ng mga indibidwal na nagtatanggol sa kalikasan at karapatan ng mga Lumad na sa ngayon ay humaharap sa mga gawa-gawang kaso tulad ng kidnapping at human trafficking. Sa kasalukuyan, mayroon nang nakakulong na magkapatid na estudyanteng Lumad at mag-asawang Lumad teacher kasama ng kanilang siyam na buwang sanggol.

Magmamartsa ang grupo tungo sa Quezon Hall kung saan naman gaganapin ang "Awit sa Paghinumdon ug Pagsukol", isang benefit concert na kaugnay pa rin ng pag-alala sa New Bataan 5, ipanawagan ang pagpapalaya sa FLED 14 at tutulan ang mga atake sa mga katutubo.

Last month, several officers of the UP Systemwide Alliance of Student Publications and Writers' Organization's (Solidaridad) National Executive Council (NEC), tendered their resignation and expressed difficulties in fulfilling their work due to personal reasons.

For the official transition of responsibilities, here are the newly constituted officers that would serve as the official NEC of UP Solidaridad for the second semester of the Academic Year 2022-2023.

As the Marcos-Duterte regime continues its crackdown on dissent and ramps up its attacks on the campus press, the NEC will continue to fight for free, critical, and pro-people campus journalism across the UP system.

The new roster of UP Solidaridad officials consists of the following:
